Yes! I have said, repeatedly and will SAY AGAIN! By EXCLUSION SRK was the BEST SUITED/CHOICE for role of DEVDAS!

Simillar Analagy! People had problem accepting Manoj Bajpai as PRINCE CHARMING in ZUBAIDA? opposit Karisma? I thought and thought, but there were a lot of CHARMERS, BUT no BODY would fit better than Bajpai in that role! :baaa: ;) :vsneaky:

Sorry guys but Aamir would not have done a better job. SRK is a much better actor that Aamir. You're all just saying that based upon the success of Laagan which is a good movie, but actor wise you can never go wrong with SRK.

sometime back some1 said aamir khan 3 second villain expression in earth 1947 was enough proof that he could have done darr better than shahrukh..ok fine now lets use the same principles here..

comapare srk method drinking style acting in devdas and compare to aamir khan method style of drinking in raja hindustani and the verdict is there srk was much better and he was better suited for the role..

Shabana Azmi falls for Devdas!
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas has got off to a roaring start at the box office, what with collections touching 100 per cent at every major centre. But while the nervous director awaits the final verdict from the masses, he can take heart from the approval that has come from an unexpected but unimpeachable source.

Shabana Azmi, the fine actress that she is, is a terribly difficult person to please. She took time out "after ages" to sit through a film and watched Bhansali's magnum opus. "I wouldn't mind doing a Sarat Chandra classic if Sanjay directs it," the obviously impressed actress said at the end of the show.

Coming from Ms Azmi, who is extremely choosy about the screen work she does these days, that sure is some compliment!

I'm a bigger fan of Shah Rukh Khan, but I too wouldn't agree that Shah Rukh Khan is a better actor than Aamir Khan. Though I can't imagine Aamir Khan doing Devdas, I'm sure if he had, he would have been just as good or even slightly better than Shah Rukh Khan. However, on this whole issue of who can portray a better Devdas. If you ask me, such a character is almost customized for Amitabh Bachchan, I'm sure if he had portrayed a Devdas remake in the late 70s, he would have brought the character to new hights.

No my friend Aamir Khan would have done wonders in this film... i dont know why but SRK just came across as a cry baby through out the movie.. Aamir Khan would have put more emphasis into the role, i.e. A better Devdas as a whole.. saying that Devdas is a boring story anyway... i reckon it would have been hard to pull this story off in an entertaining manner anyway.. unless it is redone, spiced up with bad arse dialogues and enuff dosage of AB (i.e. MKS) :D

As for your reply arsh.. unfortunately if you ahve a girlfriend that is nuts about SRK and Hritihk then unfortunaltey u cant do anything to stop her from dragging you along.. the more i cried to her that i didnt want to watch the movie.. the more she dragged me along :(

ya i think aamir would act muuuch better than srk as devdas...srk was just srk....like he was in asoka...k3g....and more!

Without a doubt, Aamir Khan is a far better actor than SRK. SRK I don't think is really that versatile, he tends to repeat himself alot and his over-acting is evident.
However, I don't think Aamir Khan has the right 'look' for Devdas...he's too little. With SLB's Devdas you could tell in some scenes that SRK was trying just a lil too hard, but that's what we've come to expect for him anyway!
I don't really think any current actor is suitable for Devdas as Dilip Kumar was.
It would've been really something great if AB played Devdas back in the day!

Agree...maybe Shah Rukh resembles Dilip Kumar and we sub conciously accept SRK more than Aamir.

Aamir Khan did a great job in Laagan. I never said he didn't, but you have to admit it was done with the help of a great cast. I think just as Aamir did a good job in Laagan, SRK did a good job in Devdas. Just sit back and accept the movie as it is.
