Dear Sir,

Thank you for clarifying the issue. Let us assure you at the outset that having bought the rights of Devdas, we would be more than careful in maintaining the quality of our products since this would have a substantial commercial impact for us. Having been in this business for many years now,
the management of Eros is fully aware of the quality of products that it releases. All said and done, Eros is still the number one company in the business of international distribution of Indian films and this position has been achieved after years of painstaking hardwork. If Eros continues to get more and more films to its credit then it is solely because of its reputation and it is this reputation which has brought leading names to offer their movies to Eros for distribution. We are constantly updated with
market feedback and we know what it has to say. Eros know its business and knows it well. We do appreciate your taking the time to write us your concerns. We shall certainly take note of them.

Customer Service

ignorant, worthless, shallow-brained, blunt-witted, idiotic, senseless, brainless creatures on earth!!!!

how is that for your market feedback!

Really. So you are fully aware of the crap quality
you release day by day? And it does not bother you one
bit? Ok. You are a junk label and proud of it. So be it.

You know zero about how to make a good DVD and obviosuly
you are not interested anyway since you can make more
money with bad quality. Thanks for making this very clear.
It's your right to do so as it's mine to boycott you
whenever possible.

Hi there. After reading this thread I thought I might as well write in to Eros and ask about the current staus of the disk and any possible extras.

This is the response I got

Dear Sir,

The Devdas DVD does promise to have some extras. However at this stage we cannot commit what the extra footage will be. Please wait for the DVD to be released in order to find out.

With Regards
Customer Service

IMHO I'm content with bollywood disk as they are, as these companies will not bother to invest in a great disk unless public demand is there but not from the asain fans but world wide (mainly westerners). In this case I want companies like C/T who did Lagaan to step in.

Oh well Just hoping Focus International come up with a Devdas dvd full of interviews, Cannes Footage as well as all the other material avaiable. ??? :keh: :nervous:

My take on this is that the vast majority of Indian movie viewers don’t have any patience and don’t care about the picture quality of the movie. They just want to see the movie as soon as possible. When ever I go rent indian movies at my local store, I’ll see them ask for the DVD but if the store doesn’t have the dvd they’ll take the VHS, since it’s copied from the DVD (some don't even bother asking for the DVD). If they cared about the picture quality they wouldn’t rent the VHS they would wait for the DVD. It’s also cheaper to rent the VHS vs. the DVD. As long as the vast majority of viewers don’t give a rat’s ass about quality, why the hell should EROS care???

EROS will stay in business and make money because indian movie viewers will watch their DVDs no matter what the quality is like!!!!

Out!!!!!!!!!

Amen to that. The fact is that Indians have no knowledge, desire or appreciation for quality. All they care about is that they get to see the film as soon as possible and for as little money as possible. Uff if there was just something I could do about these idiots. Do you realize how really stupid some of thewse people are. I mean they will actually buy a DVD player and even decent surround sound equipment (maybe just to show off) and then they will end up watching a cheap pirated VHS on the system. No wonder companies like Video Sound and Eros not only survive but make money.

Have you people ever realised thet you are possibly the worst dvd company in the world.

Amen!

I'm just heartbroken that Bollywood's worst DVD manufacturing company (and as congress pointed out, possibly the worst in the world) gained the rights to one of the best movies in the industry. Any chance there will be dual production of the title (like DEI has done with some movies previously produced by other companies)?

If you're worried about the quality of the Devdas dvd, check out the curtain raiser. I'm quite sure that will be indicative of the quality of the final product.

Right, because this is promo material and not really a dvd they're selling...

Looking at the two songs on the dvd is indicative of the quality you might expect from Eros. Did you miss that part? Not equal, indicative...
