I'm new to all this indian dvd stuff. Many indian films are on dvd whilst they are still on in the cinema. Are these dvds all pirate. If they are i'm actually quite suprised with the pic quality. Its quite good. With english movies the dvd release is approximately 6 months after the movie has been released in the cinema.

Sach - there was a time when indian movie distributers used to hold back movie releases for many months, even years before an official home video release would appear... during that period, it became apparent that many sources released pirated and bootleg material on VHS, VCD and DVD.. eventually distributers, decided not to hold back the movies and started releasing them at the same time as the cinema release on DVD, to cut down the amount of piracy within the bollywood industry!! At the same time, distributers such as Eros promised us a special edition of these "rushed" out releases about 6 months after the first release of the DVD... but slowly the fad faded out and we just got the single release at the same time of the cinema release, which is why you see the DVDs releasing at the same time as the theatrical release.. At the end of the day theyre all money saving scum, and provide us with third rate shit to keep us happy and to prevent the spread of the so called "piracy" market.. but saying that, it wouldnt be surprisring to learn that majority of these "bootlegged" releases are distributed by the same twats that provide us with the "official" release.. its a fishy business and its irritating.. !!
