The first time I saw Purana Mandir I was 9 and remember being so scared that I did not use the bathroom at night for a week.

Everyone I know who has seen it has a similar story of being a kid when seeing it and being so terrified of Saamri that they were afraid when sleeping at night in the dark. We were scared then but now we actually enjoy the memories we have of that time. Whenever I have kids in the future, I'm gonna make sure they see this film!

More Indian horror from Mondo Macabre releasing March 31st - Volume 2 of the Bollywood Horror Collection:

http://www.amazon.com/Bollywood-Horror- ... 459&sr=8-1

(Also selling at Nehaflix for less than Amazon)

Also seems that they are releasing volume 3 in May 2009 but I can't find any info about which titles are included.

Of course fantastic quality DVD set. Beats Indian Blu Rays.

Main feature is Bandh Darwaza in disc # 1, and disc # 2 is titled "Bandh Darwaza Disc 2" and has the Bonus feature "Purana Mandir" and extras. In the extras, they make it more than clear that Purana Mandir was their (Ramsays') biggest hit (among their Horror films) and Bandh Darwaza was a flop.

---------------------

Did anyone on zulm acquire Bollywood Horror Collection Vol 2 & 3 ?? (Purani Haveli, Veeraana, Tehkhaana, Mahakaal).
These don't seem to be readily available anymore.

Did they ever come out with Vol 4 ?? Saamri should have been in there too. It was as successful a hit as Purana Mandir, # 1, 2 in Bollywood Horror films, IMHO.

Despite their disclaimer, it's Hollywood standard. Beats Bollywood DVDs and BRs.
Look at the screen shots on page 2.

^ Yupp! I've seen the shots and this disclaimer too!

I think the quality is better than DEi DVDs too (most DEI DVDs are plagued with a lot of contrast and negligible shadow detail)

I hope this company does a few more Bollywood DVDs. (MEA, Sholay would be HIGHLY appreciated!!

Sooner or later, I'm going to get the vol 2 & 3. Some vendors are not too pricy. Don't mind paying $ 20-30 for 2 DVDs, this quality. Only reluctance is, possible Customs hassles and that placing order on Amazon says, "Shipping from India". I'm not sure if I can trust the quality, then. Wishfully, I hope that it's actually being shipped by Ramsays themselves. (Perhaps they or someone from their household set up operations in Canada and now back to India ?? Recall their Khiladi films after their horror films' era.)

I think there's a Priya release of these films in India. Can't trust the quality. For their "Shargid" DVD was a VHS piece of shit.

Let me look for screenshots in other sites :)

For a moment, these shots look similar to the captain shots we were talking about and a few PEN DVDs too.

@RANA: "shipping from India" can mean two things:

1) The original equipment manufacturer is located in india. So the brand is still American, but the manufacturing (under good quality controls) happens in India, and these discs cannot be sold in India

2) The brand too is located in India -- in which case it may be one of the regular dvd distributors from India with their regular problems.

2.b.) In which case, the listing online may be outdated

Hope I did not miss anything :)

@RAGZ: Priya is the same gang as delh-based EAGLE to the best of my knowledge. And as bad or as good ;-)
