'Talaash' is original, not inspired: Director Reema Kagti
3 November 2012

Reema Kagti clears the air about Aamir Khan-starrer Talaash being inspired by an American novella. There have been speculations that the film, which also features Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji, might be a copy of Act of Providence by Joseph Payne Brennan and Donald M Grant, reported Mid-Day.

"I have no knowledge of the book nor is my film anyway inspired by it. I guess these theories started floating because the working title of my film was Act of Providence for two years before we switched to Talaash," Kagti told the tabloid.

The director also clarified that Talaash is a suspense-drama and not a thriller. "It's a suspense-drama. When you have this sort of storyline, the mystery adds to the anticipation and people tend to call it a thriller but in my film, the layers keep changing thus adding to the overall drama," the tabloid quoted her as saying.

Pre-bookings for Talaash open before time
28 November 2012

The buzz around Aamir Khan's Talaash, releasing Friday, is so strong that certain theatres opened their ticket counters on Nov 25 itself and they are ovewhelmed by the response.

Talaash is a crime thriller and it is Aamir's first release after 3 Idiots. The movie, directed by Reema Kagti, also features Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji and is coming out Friday.

Usually, for a Friday release advance bookings open on Monday, while multiplexes open booking counters on Wednesday.

"Owing to strong buzz and humungous inquiries from patrons, we opened the advance booking for Talaash on Sunday pan India at all our Cinemax multiplexes," said Girish Wankhede, national marketing head, Cinemax India Ltd., in a statement.

The response was quite amazing as we were able to book around 700 tickets on the very first day. Lot of corporate bookings and bulk bookings are also happening. We are very upbeat and foresee another big blockbuster," he added.

Shashank Raizada, managing director of capital-based Delite Cinema, said: "We had to open the advance booking of 'Talaash' one day earlier, on Sunday, as people were coming and asking for tickets. Actually in reality, we started getting many block bookings almost 15 days ago. Our conventional booking has also been very good."

Aamir, known for his innovative and extensive promotions, chose a unique strategy to spread a word about Talaash.

For the promotions, this time he has used small screen by making appearances on shows like C.I.D. and shooting a special show for Star Plus.

A thriller drama could be interesting with good actors and tight script. I remember conspiracy theory with Julia Robert and Mel Gibson;)
pelican theory etc

First off, the principal actors are all great in this film, especially Kareena Kapoor.

Second, this isn't a great film by any means(disappointing in this respect, since I anticipated this to be one of year's best film) - having said that, it's still pretty good. It does have it's moments of brilliance--explicitly scenes which include in my opinion, Kareena acting at the top of her game here, not to mention the film's haunting climax, even after having watched the film a few days back, it still gives me the shivers.

I caught it up in the middle and was surprised to see a dull, extreme slow pace proceedings!
Btw it was strongly lifted from two holywood films, guess ???
