A friend's father is very fond of collecting old Hindi music and he has requested me to help him with it. I would really appreciate it if anyone can help in this endeavor.

Sanjay please send me a pm. For sure, me, rana, muz and urbanlegend shall be able to pitch in.
let us know how we can contribute?
Actually Muz did send me a couple albums too. More so I can look into some other resources too. Would it be Filmi or Non Filmi too?
Lets talk:)

I hope all is well with you after a real quick, tedious trip!

Sure thing. I have a good sized collection on CD and vinyl. The vinyl I am very slowly trying to convert. Too many projects to do with not enough time. But happy to share where I can.

I have no clue how the modalities of this would work. Any suggestions on how to get the music to my friend's father, who is in New Jersey (US). He already has a collection of his own, so I suppose I ought to first ask him for a list of what he has. No point in duplication.

The trip was good, albeit a little short and quite hectic.

Do you have a listing of your collection?

Hi Sanjay

I have a hand written list - but once I have an idea of the type of things your friend's father would be interested in I can type up some details and send them to you for sure.

Thanks!

Muz.

Sanjay,
Other than collecting music, if your friend's father is interested in listening to golden era (1940-70) music, there are few good radio progams, if he is in central NJ (around Edison):

2:00PM to 4:00PM on 1170AM on Tuesday & Thursday (1170AM - EBC radio is desi radio station having programs everyday from dawn to dusk - http://ebcmusic.com/)
3:00PM to 4:00 on 88.7FM (Rutgers University Radio) on Sunday

Host of above radio programs is also running a music club having monthly music mehfil, in which they give tributes to film
personalities (http://bharatdarshanclub.com/bdc/tribut ... tributees/).
