Vicky Donor Holds Up Strongly On Monday

Vicky Donor held up strongly on Monday as it collected around 1.50 crore nett as per early estimates. The collections in the North were almost similar to Friday while other areas saw small drops. The film has collected nearly 9.50 crore nett in four days and the first week looks set to be around 13.50 crore nett.

The film has found good appreciation amongst the North India multiplex audience and it could sustain well in the North even in its second week despite the release of Tezz and The Avengers. Even places like CP Berar and Rajasthan did not drop much on Monday probably due to the fact that collections are at very low levels.

Vicky Donor may emerge a Hit film on strength of North India multiplexes and good multiplex business in Mumbai and Bangalore.

Salim Khan gifts his Filmfare award to 'Vicky Donor' team

Mumbai: It’s not the awards season yet, but Vicky Donor‘s director Shoojit Sircar and debutant script writer Juhi Chaturvedi, has already won a filmfare award from industry legend Salim Khan.

Veteran scriptwriter Salim Khan, father of actor Salman Khan, loved the newly released film Vicky Donor so much that he gave the director Shoojit Sircar and Chaturvedi one of his Filmfare trophies.

Salim Khan, who has written scripts for many blockbuster movies including Sholay and Don, watched Vicky Donor and called the director to award him with one of his own Filmfare trophies.

“I couldn’t believe it was Salim Khan when I received the call,” Sircar said.

Salim Khan told Sircar that he saw his film with 10 women in the house and they all loved it.

“I don’t know how you made this film. I even spoke to your scriptwriter. Both of you have done a commendable job so I want to give you an award from my side’,” Shoojit Sircar quoted Salim Khan.

While, script writer Chaturvedi said that it was the greatest honour she could have imagined coming from a veteran scriptwriter to a beginner in Bollywood like her. “I have huge respect for Salim saab as a writer myself. I have been working for a very long time now but Vicky Donor was my first commercial film,” she told CNN-IBN.

On being invited, Shoojit Sircar went to Salim’s house where the 76-year-old presented him a Filmfare trophy.

“He said that if this script was offered to him he would have turned it down because he couldn’t have handled such a subject. After giving me the black trophy he asked me to hand it down as a legacy if I like somebody else’s work after some years. It was a very humble gesture on his part,” Shoojit Sircar added.

Vicky Donor, a film based on the concept of sperm donation, stars Annu Kapoor, newcomers Ayushmann Khurana and Yami Gautam.

'Vicky Donor' Heads For Big Success
28 April 2012

Vicky Donor had a good first week of around 13.50 crore nett and the 8th day collections were steady. The film is a major success and may do lifetime business of around 30 crore nett.

'Vicky Donor' Crosses 20 Crore In Ten Days
30 April 2012

Vicky Donor had a rock solid second weekend as it grossed around 6.25 crore nett in its second weekend. The business was driven by the three main circuits of Mumbai, Delhi/UP and East Punjab. The combined total from these three circuits was over 4.75 crore nett.

The film has now grossed close to 20.50 crore nett in ten days and heads for a 30 crore nett plus finish. The drop in the second weekend was just around 20%.

Vicky Donor was helped by the non performance of Tezz as it remained the number one choice in terms of Hindi films at multiplexes across India.

Vicky Donor Continues Strong Run Emerges SUPER HIT

Vicky Donor continued its strong into the third week and has emerged a SUPER HIT. The film remained unaffected by the release of Jannat 2, infact in Delhi and Punjab, the strength of Vicky Donor may have cost Jannat 2 some business.

Vicky Donor collected around 80 lakhs nett on its third Friday which should enable it to have a third weekend of around 3.50 crore nett. The film will have comfortably crossed 30 crore nett by the end of its third week. The lifetime business of the film will be in the 34-36 crore nett region.

The film is likely to do huge shares in the North for a film of its size with Delhi/UP going to around 5 crore and East Punjab around 2.50 crore.

Vicky Donor continues to do great business despite competition from new films. The film collected 3.50 crore nett in its third weekend taking the total to 29 crore nett in 17 days.

Last week the film had competition from Tezz which was a non performer but this week was Jannat 2 which did well but still Vicky Donor showed a less than 50% fall in its business. In some of the premium multiplexes of DT and PVR chain in Delhi NCR, the Saturday and Sunday collections were on par with new release Jannat 2.

Vicky Donor should cross 35 crore nett by the end of its run. SUPER HIT.

Vicky Donor Breaking Records In Gurgaon

Vicky Donor has broken records of the biggest hits in Gurgaon in its third weekend. It has collected the second biggest collection ever in the third weekend in Gurgaon behind only Three Idiots.

The figures were better than Dabangg, Housefull 2, Ready and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara which also put up huge numbers in this premium multiplex centre. These four films had the best third weekends in Gurgaon after Three Idiots but now it is Vicky Donor in second spot.

The collections of Vicky Donor for the first three weekends in Gurgaon are as follows:

First Weekend - 37,15,718

Second Weekend - 34,26,825 -7.77%

Third Weekend - 20,73,425 -39.49%

Vicky Donor Heads Towards 40 Crore Finish

Vicky Donor keeps its strong run going in its fourth despite having two new releases and one of them being Ishaqzaade which opened well. Last week it was unaffected by Jannat 2 and this week Ishaqzaade has made no difference.

The film collected 50 lakhs nett on its fourth Friday and now will hit the 35 crore nett mark by the end of its fourth week. A 30-35% drop from last week.

Vicky Donor is looking at a 40 crore nett finish and if it does not get there it will get very close. It has two weeks before the juggernaut Rowdy Rathore hits screens and takes out every film playing but before that Vicky Donor can easily add another 4-5 crore nett in its fifth and sixth weeks. SUPER HIT
