Steer as far away as you can from a digital screening of a bollywood movie. Count your blessings, that you actually have the option to make the choice and watch the movie with a 35mm film screening. Almost every single 'digital screening' I have seen of a bollywood movie, has been absolutely crap and this is in spite of watching them at the best theaters here.

If you ask me, 35 mm shall be more pleasing! Digital presentation never pleased me. But I am talking about Hollywood films, some how I thought audio was more dynamic???

Agneepath Opens At Record Pace
26 January 2012

Agneepath has taken an extraordinary opening all over India and is on course for a record first day going by the unbelievable initial. The film has taken the biggest start in recent history in Mumbai city.

Mumbai city never opens to huge occupancies at multiplexes as there are too many multiplexes in the city but Agneepath has managed a 80-85% opening which is huge for the city as Bodyguard was in the 70% region.

The rest of the country has seen a huge 95-100% opening be it North India or South India. Its the first time a Hrithik Roshan starrer has taken a bumper opening since Dhoom 2 released in 2006.

The Bodyguard first day record is 20.60 crore nett and the advantage for Bodyguard was that its second day was a holiday at places and these places showed big collections in late evening and night shows.

I saw it in the UCI here in Vienna.
English subtitles but not during the songs. During KK song we got 2 x Smoking is i.....blaba shown ..
wtf...I mean if u have time to do that add some subs.

The movie didnt work for me.
Hritik is not the revenge guy. Look down South how a good revenge movie goes.

Best actor in the movie definately Rishi Kapoor

Agneepath Creates HISTORY And Sets First Day Record
26 January 2012

Agneepath seems to have set a new record for highest first day collections of all time with early collections coming in from all around India.

The film could even challenge the highest single day collection ever of 23 crore nett by Ra.One on its second day. The early figures suggest that the first day collections of Agneepath are at least 21 crore nett and it remains to be seen how much further they can go from there.

The Maharashtra belt is simply phenomenal with Pune going towards a day one billing of 65-70 lakhs and Nagpur collecting an unbelievable 25 lakhs. Mumbai and Nizam are looking at new first day highs.

The North may set new records as figures coming in from Delhi/UP and East Punjab are very similar to Bodyguard so the film could go a bit higher than Bodyguard or remain a bit lower in the North.

1) Just noticed that the theatre that I thought had "Digital Presentation", actually states "DIGITAL" for this and all other films. It's a good theatre and I think, it means "Dolby Digital" or "DTS" referring to Audio. Can't have all 9-10 films screening Digital Video.

2) Saw Agneepath at the other theatre (AMC).
It's a heavy duty film from the Get Go. Not a gimmicks, style or light entertainment film. No boring portions, and keeps the intensity throughout.
Haven't seen orig Agneepath, so can't comment on comparison. Moreover, I had not seen it's promotions or read it's hype so big film actors came as a surprise and it took me a while to realize who they were. Meaning, good makeover that you see characters and not actors. (If I was Rishi Kapoor, I would not have accepted that role)

As expected, this AMC theatre (most AMCs) doesn't have Dolby Digital and hence got Front Speakers sound only. There was plenty of aggressive bass, though.

BTW, either I blinked or that the highly advertised hot scene bet Hritik & Priyanka, has been cut off ??

Screening (from the start of the main feature) was 169 min till the end credits start and 174 min till the end of end credits. Logos showed Dolby Digital and DTS. (There was no CC)

Digital means digital projection from a digital source, which I think means "no film celluloid reel"

Yes, even we did not get to see the "O saiyaan" song (intimate scenes between the lead actors) at PVR Cinemas, Select Citywalk, New Delhi. The song seems to be caught in some copyright issue.

We have mixed feelings for the remake -- sometimes we feel it's a good job, at others we feel it needs to be remade one more time to get it right ;-)

We were shown the Censor Cert - it said "20 reels".

- 20 reels mean 200 min. (Film screening was 174 min. Implies that O Saiyyan song for sure and some more could appear in the film or in extras DVD later on)

- What's the issue with "O-Saiyyan" song ?? Was it in the news ?? If there was a legal issue, was this song still being used in the promotions ??
Among my friends circle, all say they'll give it a pass if that O-Saiyyan song is not in the film.

This was the first Hindi film I've seen on big screen after 3 years.

The digital screen I saw this on (Cineworld) was fine. Looks like the JPEG 2000 file was made from the DI source.

Saw this yesterday. Very slow in my opinion. The original with Amitabah was way better than this one. The editing was pretty bad, what I mean by that was it didn't know where it was going. They could have cut out an hour of the movie out. I didn't care much for the characters also. I was bored half way through the movie. Rishi did a great job. The others were pretty boring. They were like just going tru the motions.

Is there any news or info if the O Saiyyan song will be added on, or what the copyright issue is and if it's being resolved ??

Has it been in the news lately ?? I'm sure audiences must be asking about it as this song video was used heavily for promoting this film.

Rishi's acting may be perfect, but I don't like this type of character, selling girls, from an actor who has been a big time hero in the past and is shown in a sympathetic character here.
