Shor in the City is an inspiring(I use the term loosely) tale despite the madness it depicts. Krishna D.K. & Raj Nidimoru are giving life to some original ideas in Hindi cinema, I've just checked imdb.com, they were also the directors of 99. In addition, Shor In the City also has an emotionally effective musical number in "Saibo".
If people here haven't seen this film yet, I urge you all not to miss this one.

Quality recommendation, thanks

I don't think I've ever seen so many Indian movies back to back that have been more than decent quality (if I forget the sleep fest that was Guzaarish), Shor in the City definitely fit the bills.

Anyone know if 99 ever got a release on DVD - title is just a nightmare on search engines :o

Thanks for the 99 recommendations, excellent film, on par if not better than Shor in the City, it's full of colorful characters, witty one liners and is a thoroughly enjoyable and hilarious experience. I'll keep an eye out of what these duo director combo come up with in the future. Can't believe this past me by without even knowing about it until it was mentioned here.

Yes, for me Shor in the City is the best bollywoodfilm of 2011. Great storytelling and acting. Its sad, gripping and funny all at the same time.
Some celebrity Kapoor kids actually are good, as this Tusshar Kapoor, hes nothing but AMAZING as Tilak, the smalltime crook with a nice heart
full of newly won awe of the beautiful things of life. But great acting from the whole cast.
The music is fantastic also, Karma is a Bitch, great stuff.

I loved their 99, also one of the best films of 2009, but few saw this little gem. My Shemaroo copy of this was troublesome with freezing problems.

Other good films i watched lately: Shagird - a noirish crime flick with an awesome Nana Patekar as a film freak police inspector, corrupted to the bone
Black stuff but enjoyable and a nasty Zakir Hussain. Bollywood Noir in the same vein as Baabarr (with Om Puri as corrupted cop), and i guess no one will se it

Rakht Charitra - 4 hour of blodshed from Varma. The best i ve seen from him for a looong time due to the relentless intensity. Based on a true story
about a lowcaste naxalite political leader. Vivek Oberoi and Suriya are nice, and this Radhika Apte keep on turning in great performances in small roles
