I don't remember what was in the orig release, but do remember "Jaane Kahan Gaye Wo Din----", with excellent music, seemed like never ending song.

On the other hand, Nitin Mukesh (some stage show) sung verse (from lyrics notebook) had some verses missing, that ARE in the film.

Naval Stars Show -- Joker Sings
There was a 20 - 30 min B/W or color documentary "Naval Stars Show -- Joker Sings" that was made and shown in theatres to promote Mera Naam Joker (before M N J release). The Naval Stars Show was held for the welfare of Indian Navy (Officers or for Jawans or ??). Live music of course was by Shakar Jaikishan and their live orchestra. Master Of Ceremony sure must have been Ameen Sayani. Showing of the documentary was always heavily advertised to promote the film being shown in the theatre. It sure was a big draw. I don't remember if the documentary was in color or it was B/W. Color films were not that common yet. In that case, a documentary must have been B/W. I have a faint memory of that Naval Stars Show being held on an Indian Navy Ship ?? Or, at least the stage, in the documentary, looked as if the show is being held on a ship. I remember Raj Kapoor performing "Ae Bhaaii Jara Dekh Ke Chalo". I think, he actually sang this song too (not Manna Dey, the actual playback singer of this song). And that's why the title/ promoted as "Joker Sings". All were surprised how well Raj Kapoor sang this song.
Perhaps, this was the first stage show of this kind that was also filmed for a documentary ??

Does any one remember this documentary ?? If this documentary can be found, sure will make a great extra.

There is some confusion about the venue/ clips.

The starting clip sure is the correct one from "Naval Star Show" 1970. (Ameen Sayani introducing all the celebrities)
He mentions venue to be Brabourne Stadium (or something similar pronouncing).

Some are labeled "Shankar Jaikishan Night at Samnukhan" that too Shanker Jaikishan Nite 1970 ??

Shankar Jaikishan did many programs for charity, for colleges and in aid of Indian defence forces !

One of the program "Shankar Jaikishan night" held in 1966 led to mammoth 13.5 crore(some say figure was ard 20 crore or was it for Naval show? ) in terms of bonds, saving etc !. Imagine what will be 13 crore's value today ?

Shankar Jaikishan did one more big grand program in aid of Indian Navy called "NAVAL STARS" in 1970.

Mera Naam Joker, as some of you might be knowing, was Raj Kapoor's favorite picture, it was closest to his heart, he was very fond of the picture. And, it was made with great passion, great love and lots & lots of money for those days. The picture did not run and my father was heart broken. It was really r -- (years) later on, and today I want to share with all of you and the whole world, but as of today, Mera Naam Joker is the biggest profit point for the RK Films and Studios. Jab Lagti Hai, Jahan Lagti Hai, Television Pe, Screens Pe, Television Mein, Sabse Jyaada Paisay Humko Miltaty Hain Us Picture Kay. And for us, it's a Super Duper Duper Hit. I'm sure, wherever Raj Kapoor is in this world, up somewhere or may be sitting with us, he will be very very proud and happy for MERA NAAM JOKER.

That scene (Simi drying clothes) was as per the plot. The scene was tastefully done. In today's Bollywood films, it's no big deal.

Perhaps you are hinting at the dream sequence scene, it was a far distance shot and a body double was used.

As per the plot: It was not she, but just any girl in the dream sequence, and hence the justification for using Body Double. Moreover, it was a far distance shot from back, no big deal. This was in 1970s. As early as 1937, there was a similar scene in a all time Hollywood Classic, The Lost Horizon and it was the film heroine and not a body double.
