I'm a huge horrorfilm fan and the Bollywood additions to the genre often disapoints, even
though they often delivers in a trashy C-grade way.
There's been some good ones as the old 80's possessed flick "Gehrayee" and maybe "1920"
and some OK ones as Bhoot and the funny "13 B-Fear has a new address".
Theres rarely any discussions about bollywood horrorfilm on this or other forums, but this
film Kaalo you shouldn't miss if you like:

- A very enjoyable horrortale about a powerful desert-witch, she's ugly, she's winged and she's
ultra-nasty with a hideous weapon. She attacks from under the sand or from the sky and she flies
in lightning speed in her sandtunnels

- A wildly inventive and enthusiastic use of the camera in the Evil Dead vein, almost hyperkinetic

- great colors, a bus named Kismat and fine Aditya Shrivastav

The Story:
Many centuries ago the evil witch Kaalo was killed by angry folks in the desert village Kulbhata. It was
rumoured she was still roaming around more powerful than ever, and the village was deserted.
Today, an unlucky bus has to take the Kulbhata route - Attack!
That's it. OK, not much of a story but this film is all visual style, an inventive use of the camera, unusual
angles and almost psychedelic colors in the desert heat. Very entertaining and hopefully this crew under
Wilson Louis will continue this wild and enthusiastic way of making films

According to the sleeve Kaalo won prizes for best film and cinematography at the South Africa Horrorfest 2010
I hope this little horrorgem will get some praise in India too. Don't miss it if you're a genre fan
I watched the lowpriced indian DVD from Pen. It looked OK to me, but i'm no expert (got an old TV) there was
a small watermark logo in the upper corner. No extras and no dance numbers
