The WHOLE BLOODY POINT OF HAVING A BLU-RAY DRIVE SYSTEM & PLAYER is to see DETAILS...

I'm guessing that Ayngaran does NOT have the skills or the ability NOR CARE to put details on a BluRay Disc. Why don't you guys just BLOW UP THE DVD9 and burn it to BluRay...since the ONLY THING you folks care about is money. Why waste any efforts on putting this great film on BluRay when you can't do ANYTHING RIGHT.

Your DD5.1 is messed up. Your prints are messed up. Your screenshot for a BluRay transfer is messed up.

Leave BluRay to the experts...because you people @ Ayngaran don't know WHAT THE heck you are doing...

FB, u need to see what a HD GOOD SHIT can be  go buy BR of CURSE OF GOLDEN FLOWER by CT, it beats all CRAPWARIYA, and YODHA KA AKBAR hands down! I was blinded by detail, sheer beauty, never saw such a beautifully shot film, plethora of colors never seen before.

If CRAPWARIYA is rated 95/100, this deserves 150/100 :D

What about the audio tracks Sunny? TrueHD-(DTS/AC3) :D

The audio track will be;

Tamil 5.1 PCM uncompressed

This is good news. However, this will exclude older AVRs with optical (tos) inputs with DD5.1 or DTS5.1 decoders supporting 5.1 surround sound. These AVRs will be limited to two channel PCM. To use 5.1 PCM uncompressed, I think a later model AVR is necessary that would support HDMI audio.

Would the subtitles be placed at the bottom of the image rather than on the black bars. The subtitles on black bars would exclude the growing number of people using CIH (constant image height) systems and zoomers reading subtitles.

Subtitles should be movable by the player.

Yes it should be. However, no blu-ray players could move subtitles unless this capability is encoded on to the disk software. To my knowledge 99.9% of blu-ray titles do not have this capability encoded on to BD software. Anybody can easily check this. None of the blu-ray titles that I have watched have this capability encoded on to the disk. So, if the title hardcode subtitles on to black bars (i.e. the raster image), they it cannot be moved out of the black bars since the blu-ray player firmware do not have the capability to move the subtitles.

In case of DVD, the TheaterTek software player and Samsung-ezyzoom players have the capability to move subtitle but to my knowledge no blu-ray players could do this unless it is encoded on to the BD software and again this function is not normally used on blu-ray titles.

Therefore, if the subtitles are placed on the black bars, CIH displays and zoomers will face a significant problem with subtitles - they will not be able to read subtitles.

Hey Babyy blu-ray got this right and the subtitles are placed on the bottom of the image rather than on the black bars. I haven't checked Saawariya yet.

Many modern DVD and Blu-ray releases carry both audio narrations for the blind and descriptive subtitle tracks for the deaf. Disabled folks are in need of these features, regardless of what format the disc is. Besides, the blind will enjoy a TrueHD Dolby track on a BD very much I'd imagine. ;)

Thank you. This is a big relief. Looks like industry understands this potentially "big" issue and hope this trend will continue. Based on Zoran009's post, I expect Saawariya has the subtitles on the picture. Hope OSO would be the same.

Saawariya's subtitles have one line in the picture and the other in the black bar.

Thanks for the info.
What a disappointment. I hoped that Sony would know better. In this case, it is almost impossible to read the 2nd line on a CIH (constant image height) display. One option is to shrink the image and the other is to shift the image upwards and crop the top of the picture. Both options are equally unacceptable.

Please check whether they have encoded the disk in such a way that subtitles can be moved out of the black bars. In case of the PS3 there is a button next (on the right I think) to the subtitles button to reposition subtitles. In almost all cases this button is inactive as they normally do not use this button in BD software.
