Synopsis
Fiza is a story of a young girl (Karishma Kapoor) in search of her brother who disappeared during the communal riots of 1992-1993 in Mumbai. The film is centred around the relationship between a widowed mother, living in the hope that her son will one day return, and her daughter, fed up with living with uncertainty, decides to go in search of her brother.

Video
The Video Quality of this DVD is rather good considering it was only released a couple of days after its theatrical release. Only problem is that it is in the aspect ration of 1.85:1 which means it is non-anamorphic and which also means that Video Sound have had to do a lot of cropping (about 1.5cm from each side). There aren't that many speckles except for some scenes, which show a lot of unsteadiness in the picture, but it does not distract the viewer that much. Some of the images in the scenes go a bit fuzzy because of the non-anamorphic transfer. Colour rendition is good especially in the 'Mere Watan' song. Overall this DVD probably isn't the best in video quality but it isn't the worst either.Video rating: 6/10

Audio
The Audio track for the DVD is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 and it doesn't disappoint the viewer one bit. If you have a 6-speaker theatre system them make sure you crank up the volume because the audio is splendid. The songs are rendered beautifully and the action scenes are also done well. The DVD disappoints in the video section but makes up for it with the great sound rendering. Anu Malik does the Music and has done an excellent job with the song "Aaja Mahiya". Audio rating: 8/10

Summary
This DVD does disappoint, as the film is great and deserved a wide screen anamorphic transfer. The menu of the DVD also is disappointing, as there is no direct scene access, no making of or background to the film, no moving pictures in the song selection or anywhere else for that matter. This DVD is certainly watchable but when there is a better version of this DVD already out, it's hard to ignore this version and escape to the Spark Video version, which is much better in most areas.

Overall 'zulmi' rating: 7/10
