Screenshots pending; will be up soon. As far as the DVD is concerned, it is a barebone disc with not even a chapter index. The sound is a proper 5.1 mix, which isn't that dynamic, but still a step up for VS (around 7/10 for sound). Picture quality seems to be above average by VS standards, comparable to Nayak in that dept (6/10 for video). There seems to be something wrong with the title song though as it is really grainy. I don't know if it was a faulty print or just VS's fault. The dvd is above average by VS standards but that's not saying much. Captures coming soon.

From the screenshots it doesn’t look bad, but remember these shots were in vivid mode which artificially enhances the colour - so natural playback on a normal DVD will show dull colours - such a shame muppets VS can't do this at the DVD mastering stage! Also there slight out of proportion, should be 16x9 (capture fault not the DVD).

And just the more disgraceful not containing a chapter selection while stores and VS are insistent on advertising this as 3 disc set.

Thanks for the screens shots MalFUnXiON.

The DVD is definitely one of the better VS releases; maybe the best, but that's debatable.
The DVD is anamorphic and the ads are skippable; you can go right to the menu.
I realized after I uploaded the shots, that I had captured them in vivid mode; didn't feel like going back and taking all the shots again, so sorry about that. As for the geometry problem, I did check the box to capture in original aspect ratio, so I don't know what other option I have to enable to ensure original AR capturing. Will figure that out the next time I do it. :)
And for those of you wishing for an alternate ending :stupid:

Are these screenshots from the 1 disc version or the 3 disc
one.

As my video retailer is adamant that the 3 disc one is not out
till Monday..

........Also are there any differences in the print quality between the 1 disc and 3 disc one (if its out)...and which
ending does the 1 disc dvd have....

...Thanks in advance.....

The shots are from the 3 disc version, which has been out for a couple of days now; I didn't even know there was a 1 disc version.
The ending is the same as the one shown in international theatres.

'3-disc' one is out, got it delivered today from IW. I think where the confusion is rising from is that VS is falsely advertising this as 3-disc. Aankhen film comes on one DVD - bare essentials - no chapter selection, no extras – just the film with English subtitles. Video is anamorphic 2.25:1 and does have proper 5.1 sound track (as to quality of the track, I’ll let you know once I’ve watched the film). The video is no better than Nayak DVD, actually Eros Vadh DVD looks much better.

The extra DVD is ‘Best of Khans’ totally unrelated to Aankhen. Contains 50 songs from various ‘Khan’ films – video goes from OK to very poor. Sound is encoded in 5.0, i.e. mono to all speakers.

The third ‘disc’ is an audio-CD – the best of the lot, are you ready for this – containing ONE audio track and that’s it! The track lasts for 8.5mins and it not even a song – a radio type promo for the film Kehtaa Hai Dil Baar Baar. Must be a really proud moment for Video Sound releasing this 3-disc set! :bangbang:

If you see the one disc pirate of Aankhen – buy that! :oh: - it's only the first disc on this set without extra garbage.

Full DVD review, once I watch the film.

Ali, how much was it to purchase the DVD? Shipping? Do you feel it is over priced and a crime for Video Sound to promote it as a 3 Disc set? Is it worth it? :gob:

I brought it for $18.99 from IW + $2 handling and then $5.99 shipping on top of the whole order (contained 4 DVDs). All in all the 4 DVDs cost just over £13 (about $18 USD) each. No other retailer in the UK will sell these DVDs for that amount let alone delivery it in 3 days.

Do I feel it’s overpriced? Yes – Aankhen disc on its own would have been sold cheaper - VS have added garbage into the package to inflate the price, easier to justify: ‘it’s high cos it’s a 3-disc set’. The reason why discs get pirated/replicated is that it’s more economical for sellers to make their own copies of an original and sell it at their own price (most times their own price is same as original price, but they make a higher profit on each unit sold as they don’t have to pay the high asking price to say VS for the 3-disc Aankhen).

It’s not really a crime (in the legal sense anyway) as it does contain 3 discs. I would rather they had spent that extra time, money and effort encoding the Aankhen disc properly – maybe encode with some security to that the disc doesn’t get replicated so easily. The audio CD is just a complete joke – absolute waste of media. They definitely shouldn’t promote this as a 3-disc set – but you can’t expect miracles from crooked people. :doze:

Is it worth it? Depends on you or whoever is buying – I got it to watch the film. I don’t expect the disc to last as it’s the same silver defective disc media that VS use. It will play a few times and then become defective. Depends on how worthy your worth is :p

Wait for 1 week and the movie should be in #apna-movies. It will be the VS rip and you can download it from there and spare urself the trouble of watching the DVD (or even buying the DVd)!

What's the original AR for the movie? I thought I noticed slight cropping while watching the movie but was unsure. Is the feature cropped?
