EXCEL haven't disappointed. Though there's no dts like on the Parineeta 2-Disc SE, the Corporate 2-Disc SE from Excel Home Videos has DVD ROM features... they say it's the first Hindi movie with DVD ROM features. If true, it's another first for Excel.

In my experience, most "DVD-ROM" features... well, suck. Usually, you'll get a few wallpapers, some icons, and a shitty little
"point-'n'-click" game. That said, if the DVD is good, then it's good (I haven't yet seen the movie).

Is the way the screen shots are taken or is the video with distinctly lacking any sharpness and appear to be bit pixilated – check the bottle screen shot.

Yes, even I noticed that... there could be a problem with the way I am taking shots:

On PowerDVD 5.0, I set
- Capture current video size
- Keep aspect ratio
- Video: Use original color profile
- Video de-interlace: Auto-Select

I was taking shots from a laptop: does its brightness setting affect shots? :?

Are the above settings okay? If yes, then either I did not make the JPGs from the BMPs correctly, or the PQ lacks sharpness on Corporate Excel -- will try to take new shots again the coming weekend.

In addition to the above, one more question -- I clicked these shots after pausing the movie... does that affect the quality in any way?

I'm guessing it’s something to do with the hardware i.e. your laptop being used to take the screen shots. Try checking if hardware video acceleration is turned on (usually when this is turned on you cannot take screen shots, so not sure if this is the problem or not). Have you any other DVD software to try out? Like WinDVD? Or a later version of PowerDVD?

Pausing or brightness levels on the monitor shouldn’t make a difference to the way the screen shots appear.

Actually another thought, try setting to capture at the original video size under advance options, your screen shots seem to at a 1024 wide resolution – at the original video resolution they should capture at 720 x 480.

The Excel and Rainbow DVDs both have a cropped AR of about 2.2:1! Sad :-(
