RGV is making JAMES all over again. This time he will direct it himself although previous director did nothing wrong. :D

Like, they figured, there was potential in Shola Aur Shabnam that flopped for whatever reason and hence made it again as Ishq Par Zor Nahin.

'James' to be remade as 'Shiv'

By Our Correspondent ©2005 Bollyvista.com

Ram Gopal Varma
Ram Gopal Varma still has faith in the subject of 'James'. So what if the film bombed badly at the box-office. We hear he is planning to remake it as 'Shiv' at the box-office. Wonder why and what that means!

bah, James is a good film. The original director did a perfect job. If it's a remake, it will be like what Sarkar is to GodFather :P

all his movies are good, if not great. most of them have repeat value. esle watch your 'popular' films. D is Damn good :p true, it is no Satya, but how many directors do you know that bring the same quality to every movie?

Orson Wells never lived up to his Citizen Kane ever again, because he had set such a high standard to begin with. Atleast with Varma, he's repeated excellence in the form of many movies (too many to mention). Shiva will still be my favortie RGV film though!

atleast he is making movies for the sake of the art, not to make a quick buck (not that there is anything wrong with that if he did, cause he needs a quick buck to make better films ;p) continue to patronize your mangal pandeys, your salaam namastes, your aitraaz, bah :P

couldn’t agree more yuvan, ramu is easily the most consistent, complete and exciting director/producer in bollywood today

outta the current crop though, vishal is the only director who shows promise. both ‘makdee’ and ‘maqbool’ were excellent and the ‘blue umbrella’ promos look impressive. ‘o’ and ‘mr singh and mrs mehta’ also have the potential to be great

though I wouldn’t agree w/ your welles comment - I was never much a kane fan myself, it is overrated imo. I think welles did his best work post-kane, both ‘magnificent ambersons’ and ‘touch of evil’ were his real masterpieces imo. he did some good noirs also - ‘lady from shanghai’, ‘the stranger’…

IMHO RGV is overrated. He copies (from bollywood or tamil). Period.

I have found all the films directed by him to be good to excellent except Daud and ending of Bhoot. Would rate him as one of the best directors in the country.

However the films produced by him vary in quality a lot - Excellent to eminently forgettable. He seems to be turning into a businessman rather than a filmmaker, especially with the multi crore deal with Ambani..

And as arsh bhai says he seems to be in the mode of remaking the same genre again and agian. The only thing more repettitve is arsh bhai's comments

Copies from tamil? Havent heard that before. Which ones?

I agree!! or himself!

If he can remake, remake, I can resay too? :?:

Well, I immensely enjoyed Rangeela, even Mast, satya was Great! Jungle, Road were different, despite lousy added on item numbers, were not bad!

Kaun was Brilliant.

PTKK was a true remake.

Bhoot was good as I never saw Orig Version..Raat.

DMH! was interesting concept even it was of short film type!

MDDBCH..was a real good effort.

Naach was..Absurd imho.

Company, I watched but found it bo stylized Satya, then Sarkaar, D ...I did not care!!!he tried to cash on AB happening with Sarkar!

I think since he made this CANDY/POPCORN machine film making company, he went off track.

he admits himself, that he will learn from mistakes made in one film, will fix and remake, till he gets it right? :?:  This is absurd.

He should learn from his mistakes and make a new mistake free film instead!

Ramu has given us tons of very competent talent, urmila, rajpal yadav, sushant singh, Antra Mali etc.

No doubt sissy Fraden never worked for ny one!

did I miss EHT!! that was Brilliant again!
But every 3mo a copy is not that I look forward to RGV for!

Same as YRF/3mo, they are churning hollywood remake with big wigs and commercial success.

Now I am skeptical, with VVC company as Parineta with all its strength did not match to VVC previous work!

if anything, he is the most underrated film maker. There you go Jag. He gives us something different in the form of "Daud" and I'm probably the only one that thinks it is excellent comedy/adventure type film. I haven't seen Anaganaga Oka Roju, I heard they share a similar theme? It's funny you mention this film, cause I just busted out my Daud audio CD to listen to in my car. One of best Rahman's works :) It's sooo freeaking goood. it's a fantastic movie.

overrated is when herds of morons flee to the theaters to watch Rajnikanth's antics. same goes for YRF, and you ALL KNOW the like. Majority of RGV films are flops, so I don't know how they/he can be classified as overrated? :P

he likes dark themed subjects. you might as well ask eminem to sing a britney spears song

as for Citizen Kane, Wells set a precedent in film making. that is why it is highly observed. It was finely crafted, watch it again :P
