Here you go...

Some songs are really ugly. It looked like cassette print, but probably due to "outdoor" recording limitaions during those days.

Interestingly when I saw the movie, I felt like its a combination of few Sivaji/MGR movie. I am more surprised that Rajini didnt do this in Tamil along with Sarathbabu (typical movies of friendship - misunderstanding - finding the reason at the last minute movies)!

Did I ??

Here is what I posted in "Upcoming dvd releases by BEI" thread on March 28, 2005:

It has been mentioned often (for years) that J. Ompraksh films (starting with Aa) North American rights are with BEI. When actually will we see them and are they worth the wait?? Hope, rights don't expire before they release the DVDs :P .

In the mean while, I purchased a few of these J. Omprakash DVDs on Shemaroo label. As in the past, Shemaroo DVDs that come out before BEI release, do give some indication to BEI release quality.

Here are indicators from Shemaroo release DVDs:

Aayee Milan Ki Bela: Someone reported earlier it's terrible. I agree. It's PAL to NTSC converted field averaged. Made from a faded and perhaps 10th copy VHS. Unless BEI does a new telecine from original film, avoid.[/b]

Aas Ka Panchhi: PAL to NTSC converted field averaged but not as bad as Aayee Milan Ki Bela.

Aaye Din Bahaar Ke, Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke, Aankho Aankhon Mein, Aap Ki Kasam: Pseudo-Progressive. Clear 3-2 pull down avail. Good PQ. BEI version sure will be Progressive even if they use same telecine.

Aan Milo Sajna: Didn't receive this DVD (has been on back order for over 3 months). Getting hint from above mentioned DVDs, this probably is Pseudo-Prog. So, I expect a Prog DVD from BEI.

Bit rate: As normal, Shemaroo bit rate is 3-5 mbps. BEI bit rate normally is 5-8 mbps. As BEI don't waste bits on unnecc. fields (25%), effective bit rate should be twice of Shemaroo.

Note, a ray of hope for other J. Omprakash film DVDs on BEI:
Aaye Din Bahaar Ke
Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke
Aankho Aankhon Mein
Aap Ki Kasam:

Pseudo-Progressive. Clear 3-2 pull down avail. Good PQ. BEI version of these DVDs sure will be Progressive even if they use same telecine.

SK dont have a choice now. Now that I am nice enought to post SS he has to buy.   SK where is the order

Some of the songs (like I mentioned above) are mere VHS quality. I thought itis because of the outdoor shooting, but I guess its because its VHS copy!!!

FYI the price of this crap is more compared to any other BEI dvd, but we kept theonline price same. May be we should increase the price, so ppl wont buy

Once the frames have been thoroughly mixed up by field averaging, no one can extract the original frame information back from the field averaged material.

Shemaroo DVD (Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke ) has clear 2-3 pull down avail (Very good print. BEI will be even better). Sure to be Progressive from BEI like Shahenshah, Professor and other DVDs that were Pseudo-Prog from other labels and got encoded Progressive on DEI/ BEI.
