EVP's Patthar Ke Sanam is PROGRESSIVE, but it is problematic for many/ most frame weavers in more than half the chapters. Unfortunately, the screen caps above are from the problematic chapters. Colors, sharpness and detail is good as well. Equals EVP's Dharamveer.

Rest Later.

Hmm!! i have not seen PATHHAR KE SANAM(EVP)...

Is it like DHARAM VEER??? seeing these screen shots? No way, I have DHARAM VEER..it is MILES AHEAD of this!!

Either, this one is not real EVP version, rana has! or???

I dont know, I have a GREAT RESPECT for RANA JI's opinion, indeed, and will hate to differ!!

Rana ji..is there any way, u can kindly grant us some screen caps from your disc, from prob free areas, where pq looks like dharam veer!!

Dharam veer is even better than AMAR PREM(interlaced). :baaa: :oo:

My comments are for the same disc that the screen caps above, are from. I rented the same disc.

I wonder, what did you not like about the pic??

Is it the combing or Waheeda’s double image?? You don’t see this when watching this DVD with proper settings.

Or is it that what Shuman described as Faded Colors?? I found the colors to my liking and have nothing against them. Moreover, colors can be adjusted. For example, Vivid color setting. As far as sharpness and detail is concerned, it is like DEI’s better prints.

Regarding the problematic progressive, the DVD is encoded progressively, i.e. it has 24 steps per sec.. Six extra steps to make it NTSC’s 30, are not recorded but the player is instructed to repeat them, as done in progressive encoding. The problem is that perhaps the flags have been set incorrectly, such that, in force weave video from wrong (off by 1) fields is combined for more than half of the movie. My speculation is that it is caused by improper Editing splices. This kind of flag error may not be detected and corrected by the present day Power DVD software, any slightly more advanced DVD playing software can easily take care of that. Pixel to Pixel comparing frame weavers will also succeed easily.

If you were following the Faroudja thread, I will place EVP Patthar Ke Sanam between category ‘C’ and ‘D’ for a 32 inch interlaced TV and between category ‘B’ and ‘C’ for a 18 inch PC monitor assuming correct video fields are weaved.

P.S.
1) EVP's Patthar Ke Sanam DVD is not easily available.
2) My copy of EVP’s Amar Prem (No Subtitles) is progressive. EVP’s subtitled version of Amar Prem is interlaced.

EVP PKS if available is a better bet. Half the DVD is progressive with correct flags. The other half is progressive with shifted flags. Auto select may not work here. For the incorrect flagged segments, change to Force bob and enjoy.

EVP Pathar Ke Sanam shots in Force bob will show up much better than Samrat DVD. For interlaced viewing too, EVP PKS is better.
