Could you please confirm if the sound is in 5.1 and if so the quality of the sound.

On this note, Shemaroo are selling a DVD of Deewangee on their website - this may be a remastered version.

And Shemaroo will be releasing Hero, Karz and Karma soon - the format is not stated though.

Video: 2.35:1 Non anamorphic
Audio: DD 5.1

Video is very "blurry", no details at all especially in dark scenes. Colours are very dull and not vibrant. Seems worse than an Eros dvd.

Audio is excellent, pure 5.1 channel with great surround effects, especially Sandeep Chowta's BG music.

Thanks for the screens been trying to find out about this one for some time now. Looks much better than the Anita International DVD - especially with proper 5.1.

I just got done watching the Shemaroo DVD of Deewangee. The DVD is being sold here in India for a MRP of Rs 550/- approx $11.50

Video:
Non Anamorphic Letterboxed - cropped 1.80:1
Decent picture quality for a non-anamorphic DVD.
Sound:
Dolby Digital 5.1
Good surround sound, decent quality sound.

Pros: Price, reasonable quality video, good quality sound.
Cons: Incorrect Aspect Ratio, Non-Anamorphic, Forced commercials at the begining with disabled player controls including stop button.

PS: MRP = Maximum Retail Price

Yes, you are right about that. Infact I myself bought the DVD for Rs 475/- approx $9.50 Regarding MRP, which stands for Maximum Retail Price, the law in India is that all products must have the MRP printed on it, and it is illegal to sell the product for more than that amount. Ofcourse there is no restriction on selling them for less. BY the way just because there is a law does not mean it is always followed or enforced, after all this is 'Mera Bharat Mahaan' India. :)

A comment on the movie: It's probably one of my all-time favorites. I thought it had a very well-developed storyline and some excellent acting by Manoj Bajpai.

Then again, I've missed out on a lot of old classics...
