Here's the most sensational news of the week… and remember, you read it on IndiaFM first (like always!).
Karisma Kapoor has consented to appear on the small screen. Unlike Amitabh Bachchan, Govinda and Sonali Bendre, who started with game shows, Karisma is into serious stuff.
Karisma will appear in a TV serial that will be aired four times a week. Titled KARISHMA – THE MIRACLES OF DESTINY, the serial, which will have a story-based format, will be launched on Friday, September 20 with a simple 'pooja' ceremony, which will be attended by family and close friends.
While the shooting will start shortly, the serial will be on air from November-end/early December on Sahara TV.
Conceived and created by Akash Deep, the serial is being directed by Anurag Bose (who's directing a film for Ekta Kapoor). Scripted by veteran writer Sachin Bhowmick with screenplay by Talukdaars and dialogues by Naeem-Ejaz, the serial will have music by Anu Malik. Manisha Malhotra will supervise the look of the serial.
“We intend having more than 50 songs, half of which will be shot all over the world,” Akash Deep tells me.
Karisma's co-stars in the serial include several known names and in-the-running actors – Sanjay Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan, Arshad Warsi, Jugal Hansraj, Apoorva Agnihotri, Parmeet Sethi and Salil Ankola. Besides them, Tinnu Anand and Vijay Raaz have also been signed to enact pivotal roles.
And now the pertinent question – how much has Karisma been paid for the serial? “She's been paid what she deserves. And she deserves the best,” Akash Deep smiles, “Unlike some actors, who think that they should switch over to television once their film career goes kaput, Karisma, who's amongst the top actresses of the country, agreed to this offer instantly. There were no hiccups, believe me. That indicates what a professional she is.”
What about her role? “It's a double role,” Akash Deep reveals, “But I wouldn't want to reveal more at this juncture.”
Await the biggest show on television!
P.S.: There are plans to rope in Ramesh (SHOLAY) Sippy as the creative consultant of the serial. http://www.indiafm.com/scoop/02/sep/200 ... ndex.shtml
