We all know that these companies produce good quality disks but not as good as DEI because of their Interlaced technique.
But after the departure of the DEI, I set my hope on these companies as they produce reasonably good quality DVDs.
I recently procured all the disks (total 7 so far) from Ayngaran's Digital Isai Thendral Songs collection (thanks to Sunny for helping me). These disks contain approximately 200 songs from 40 different movies.
So far my observations are limited.

All these songs are in their correct aspect ratio of 2.35:1. And have excellent Dolby digital 5.1 tracks. Sound quality wise comparable to some of the best works of DEI.

I think all of you know the most important problem with an interlaced dvd. It looses its sharpness and small details. This become worst when you watch it on larger displays.

And now the most important observations: On my setup the EVP interlaced DVD Santosham looked better than the Ayngaran's disks (these are also interlaced). I think EVP produce sharper images.

I will have 12B from EVP by the end of the week and I can probably do a side-by-side comparison with Ayngaran 12B and let you know.

But I sincerely hope either EVP or Ayngaran go progressive and buy the entire Hindi catalog.
I already lost hope with the Hindi DVDs. I don't even care about the quality any more!

I believe EVP has also released "Amritha," the Telugu dubbed version of "Kannathil Muthamittal." Could you also compare those?

It would be great if EVP started making Hindi DVDs again, though they only did older titles.

Yes Dragun,
EVP has also released Amritha and I will do a comparison once I get it from Indofims.com as I just started renting from them. Do you know the name of the Tamil movie for "Cheli".

EVP picture is better than Ayngaran's for the primary reason of excessive DVNR alone. On a big screen excessive Digital Noise Reduction makes the image unwatchable. Out of the 7 volumes only the 7 th volume PQ. is some what comparable to the EVP PQ. Although both of them are encoded as video rather than film, EVP picture looks more like a film.
