Nehaflix shows Udaan on DVD and in-stock (UTV release). But I don't see mention of this DVD anywhere else so curious if anyone here knows.... Sounded like a very good movie...

It's a Disney DVD release, not UTV DVD (in India). UTV is the label / production house, but the DVD itself is released/ marketed/ distributed by Disney.

All I posted was what it says on Induna - I don't have the DVD and don't live in India, so can't comment any further.

The DVD cover artwork design seems to suggest, atleast at a cursory glance, that it is released by UTV. Poor designing I'd say.

in india, you'll see almost all hollywood film dvds with just the label (e.g. Warner Bros.) on the sleeve and the frontcover, with only the backcover revealing "dvd distributed/marketed by" (e.g. for WB, it was SaReGaMa at one time, now it's Big).

ditto for all excel home videos dvds of hollywood films (where you'll see only the Fox or MGM labels on the sleeve and frontcover, and only on the backcover will you see "marketed/distributed by Excel"

while labels stay more or less permament, distributors tend to keep changing. (can see some Michael Jackson audio CDs/tapes in India for label and distributor comparison too)

So what's the quality of the DVD like?

I saw this movie on DVD about a month ago and I must say that I was not only very impressed by the movie, but the DVD too was quite impressive. It had been a while since I had viewed any DVD and therefore I was rather pleasantly surprised at how good a good quality DVD can look like compared to some of the crappy Indian blu-rays that have been coming out of late. The DVD also did not have any logo 'watermarks' or any other ads etc. All in all, a great movie and a pretty good DVD. In the absence of a blu-ray release, I have no hesitation in recommending this DVD.
Highly Recommended.
