I've been along to see the exhibition and for those who'd can't go here are a few highlights. Almost every department in the store has an Bollywood Theme, and each area is well marked out. The main exhibition area is on the lower floor where you will immediately see thirty or fourty very large film posters. Not ordinary film posters each is in a glass frame and decorated with staree (you know those tiny reflective thingies that women have sewn into thier dresses at weddings). Anyway should you feel the urge to take one home it will cost you approximately £1000 (I kid you not). However within the poster area is the real draw, there are a number of costumes being displayed from recent films and worn by stars such as Ash (3 or 4 dresses from DAPK), Amitabh's costumes from KGx2, and hold on to your chuddies Sknath, Amisha Patel's wedding gown from Gadar. Other stars are represented including SRK and Madhuri Dixit, but I have to admit I spent at least half an hour looking at Ash's dresses. The costumes are for sale, each on average £1000, although I saw a couple for £450. If I was promoting a business I would certainly have bought at least one dress, no need to guess which one, although I wouldn't let the misses go anywhere near it!
Dimple Kapadia's house was wonderful, luxourious, stylish, plush, classy. While I was there a cable company were filming. Her bathroom, bedroom and other rooms are shown, each breathtaking in their beauty and elegance.
CDGuru have an area in the Stationary area, they didn't have many dvds for sale and those that were there were quite expensive. CDGuru are apparently updating thier site soon.
Also of note in the Books department were a lush new 3 inch thick book on Bollywood (its history upto Lagaan) which looked wonderful and also many other interesting books on the film industry, fiction and fact.
Teeshirts were available, the only ones connected with the film industry were those showing a picture of Dharmendra in Sholay shounting "KUTTEE". The others were just touristy trash.
I thought it was definately worth going to, I was in London on business for the day and I spent a very relaxing few hours just browsing around and drinking some coffee surounded by some very expensive furniture. Recommeded.
