IndiaWeekly's prices are flactuating all the time. If DON is going for $5.99 now, it will be $6.99 by tommorow. So far, BEI has not disowned BEI and solo DEI DVDs. As was posted somewhere (perhaps by sknath) they say, the will exchange faulty media discs.

BTW, the only true Gold media DVD that I received recently was SANAM TERE HAIN HUM, from IW and was (still is) $ 3.99 or $4.99. Must have been old stock. No one has recently seen any Indian brand DVD on Gold Media. Problem is universal.

Just saw Baghbaan and realized it's a remake of Zindagi from 1976 starring Mala Sinha & Sanjeev Kumar, both movies are very similar but I think Zindagi is far superior for following;
1) Both Mala Sinha & Sanjeev's performances are much more powerful & moving than Hema & Amitabh's
2) Zindagi is simple and much more relistic.

Hema did look amazing & Amitabh did well but when you compare the two movies Zindagi win's hands down with Mala & Sanjeev.

The Eros version of Baghban is simply horrible. There's a lot of commercials befor getting to the movie. And in addition to that every song parts have the Eros logo on the top left corner of the image, it's really a shame from Eros. I will try to get Shemaroo's edition. At least in this one there's no Shemaroo logo every 15 mins....

So far for me Eros is bad quality. I bought Devdas (Eros version) and the image was horrible. Fortunatly there is a french DVD version (because the movie was shown in France) and that french edition is MUCH better than Eros one.
So as for me I will try to avoid is often as I can Eros DVDs.

Well, you know the french guys : except French there's nothing else... So no english subtitles for this Edition, only french ones. There's a very good Hindi 5.1 track along with a horrible French audio track. The image quality is better than any usual Bollywood DVD, simply perfect. The only flaw is that the intermission as been ignored once again, like on the Eros edition.
I will try to post some screenshots later.

The website is both in English and in French so the forum is too (but muslty in English).

There are other french DVD of indian films : Lagaan (2 discs) and Monsoon Wedding. Both are much better than the usual Eros trash.

If it is a Region 2 DVD and you have a region free player than yes it will be playable.....

amazon.fr has the ASIN number as B0000V8DIK for the Édition Prestige version. This is the one we want. I think all others will be the same old eros version.

the new 2 disk set for baghban is really crap. like the mhn dvd, there are many layer changes, so there are many pauses. looks like their new dvds are going to be like this. I also noticed that one scene is cut, when it was there in there first release. the menus are different from the first release. the quality, as usual, is pretty horrible, very pixelated, so no surprises there. the extra disc has 13 minute making, a few deleted scenes with bad pq and bad sound, and amitabh and hema malini songs with bad quality. pretty bullshit release if u ask me. ERO$ should quit making dvds, they have no clue what they're doing.
