I found Akayla TNT Version (authored by Shemaroo) on the weekend .. I tried backing it up but at the 56% mark it crashes .. via DVD Decryp or DVD Fab VTS 1_2 is corrupted. Yet when I play and fast forward the movie on my standalong it scans through fine. The print is decent, I will post some screen shots later.

My WEG DVD of Akayla (decent transfer) used to work almost fine, skipping here and there; now, like a half hour of the film (near the middle) just won't play. I fucking abhor deteriorating Hindi-film DVDs.

I found WEG Sadak rental. It's not Progressive.

It's DL, Gold media but PQ is not that good. I put it in Average category above.

It'll be interesting to see which version, Spark or WEG, is beter.

Well I was going by memory! I took another look and had trouble on layer 2 too also. Found it to be interlaced and would now put it in average category, and not better category! This is how my copy looked below!

After looking at these shots, tried finding these shots playing DVD. Pq is that bad for these shots. But, it's also much better in other segments.
So, I too place this DVD in Average Category. "Worst than 4th Gen VHS" ones are much worst.

BTW, comparing screen shots with DVD playing pic, it's obvious, these shots are not captured/ posted with proper AR. These are squished vertically.

Yeah, a small proportion mostly in second half! If you can get to it and capture some SS? We are talking about PQ here and not the AR, right? can wrong AR affect PQ? Anyway I asked Ali to recustomize (resize) for arsh to proper AR to keep him happy.

I thought, I posted a comment here, but perhaps some internet glitch.

As you posted this comment, I saw it about the same time and the AR had been fixed. Different AR has nothing to do with picture quality.

WEG titles that we are calling average are "Average WEG", and will rate much worst against "Average DEI, Average YRF or Average EROS --- etc".

Even the "best of the lot (WEG)" ones that also turned out Progressive, are not that exceptional but we went gung ho about them because it was un-expected of WEG.

Thanks for confirming that SS captured in the wrong AR does not affect PQ!



Totally agreed with you on this! We are in the habit of rating one label against another and loosing sight that every label have their limitations! I said as much a long time ago. Here's an excerpt of a discussion I had with armaan.

Sincerely hope you get an understanding of what I am talking about! ........."
