can we watch this movie with kids or will it be depressing and better to avoid?
How long is the movie?

I think the movie is two hours. Yes, you can watch with the family. Not sure how conservative your family is. There is a scene which is not family friendly due to a very mild discussion about condoms, other than that, it's for the whole family! if your kids don't know what a condom is, go for it

One of my pakistani friends went to go watch it with her parents...her dad didn't like the film cause he doesn't like India..lol, but the women loved it. my friend said she shed tears!! Don't expect to shed tears though........it's not a bollywood tear jerker, she must just be sensitive :?

And I just read the synopsis to Robin Williams' Jack, and it is not inspired by that or Benjamin Button.

Thanks dude. My kids are not that old yet. I was worried about sickness, death etc, but got good feedback from few folks.

Going on Sunday!!!! Guys, theatres in India are awesome. I am going to miss them when I come back to US!

Movie was very enjoyable. Amitabh all the way. Glad to see Balki keeping the movie under 2 hours and not focus too much on the disease. I think Kamal will do a movie with Balki soon.

I read that his movie with Myskin is touching 200 crore and it will take time for them to find producer, hence the stop gap again. What used to be a stop gap movie for Kamal, is becoming his main focus these days. He (unfortunately) still has to prove that he can bring revenue by doing such films.

I hope Kamal does 1 more movie Maniratnam, Myskin, Balki and finish his marudhanayagam and just focus on the creative side of films. He dont have to run around with Asin any more.

BTW, this calls for another thread, I will settle down for a chit chat here!!! I am returning back to US. Looking to return back in Feb 2010. Hope to see IR concert in Mumbai before my departure!

If he has to take crap films to fund Marudhayagam or whatever mega-budget film he wants to do, he should concentrate on making good films that are reasonably budgeted. It does not take 200 crores to make a good film. He should be looking at the success of films like Subramaniapuram, Anjaathey, even his own Unnaipol Oruvan, that were small films with a big impact.

No official news yet about IR Concert. All I heard was that IR is going to perform a show with Hungarian symphony group in Mumbai on Jan 26th. If it happens, I will buy 1 ticket extra for you.

It doesnt take 200crore even to make a bad movie :) If Pazhasiraja can be made in 27C, why not Marudhanayagam. Dont understand it, but I am sure Kamal has his own reason. Atleast he is a guy who put his life and life's worth into movie, so we should appreciate him. Lets see what happens...

I just watched Paa: it was brilliant. To those worried it's "ripped off" Jack, they have no reason to fear; it has absolutely nothing in common with The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, either.

With all due respect, Curious Case of Benjamin Button is BS all the way.

Paa is totally original and Indian. What’s special about this movie is the characters that Balki chosen. Young and ambitious politician who want to fix the country (inspired by Rahul?), normal mom who cares about his kid and respect her career, supportive grand ma and Auro, who is 12 with 70+ body. Who else can do Auro other than Amitabh? His subtle performance is the crown of the movie.

Above all, it is Ilayaraja's music that made the movie memorable (how can i finish any topic with our my musical god!)

hahahah....no that's not true. we love you regardless of if you are in India or US or Antarctica. I was just super excited about the news of the concert, and I even googled it, no details of the event(s), except for his hungarian orchestra...

but luck(bad) has it, that I got a crappy minimum wage job (I have 2 college degrees) which I start this monday :( if there is a concert, and esp with the hungarian orchestra, I might still come down just for the concert!! Hopefully it's not just Thiruvasagam though...I wanna hear filmi stuff too :D

ps--IR topic can bring bgee back to life, BigB topic can bring Commando back to life :)
