Film: Daddy Cool
Starring: Sunil Shetty, Javed Jafferi, Chunkey Pandey, Aftab Shivadasani, Ashish Choudary, Rajpal Yadav, Prem Chopra
Director: K Murali Mohan Rao
Producer: Inder Kumar
Release: August 28, 2009

Ups
To get things straight, as a commercial comedy film for the Bollywood audience the story seems to be heading
in the right direction to begin with, it has a good atmosphere for a mindless comedy. The presence of some of
the actors like Sunil Shetty, Javed Jafferi and Chunkey Pandey who are seniors compared to the rest do drop in
a pleasent view. A few comedy scenes in the film do put a smile on your face which are well handled, the ending
also has a senstive feel too.

Downs
The film ranks amongst the worst comedies I have seen in a long, long time. I actually thought that a film like
Wanted was bad, after watching it made me feel that there are worse out there. The film just sticks to the
typical genre of this new era of making a mindless comedy into a complete utter bakwas film, Daddy Cool follows.
The film is over-crowded with too many characters and its becomes a headache to follow, the writers begin to throw
typical Gay jokes as usual and yes, too many subplots.

Performances

Sunil Shetty does fulfil his role and does give justice to the character he is playing. Nice to see him in
form after a while

Chunkey Pandey comes back into the form he was in the 90's, love this guy!

Javed Jafferi impresses to an extent, otherwise he gets repeative

Prem Chopra is just, one of kind!

Aftab Shivdasani and Ashish Choudary are annoying. Everyone else is just wasted.

Overall
A typical piece of junk which should rot away soon. The film offers very little entertainment for the viewer and
more boredom. Sadly, a project that could have been made properly just falls flat on it own two feet. One of
the worst this year.

Too plain!

Film: Baabar
Starring: Mithun Chakraborthy, Om Puri, Sohum, Sushant Singh, Tinu Anand, Shakti Kapoor
Director: Ashu Trikha
Producer: Sunil Saini
Release: September 11, 2009

Ups
Baabar is no Parinda, Vaastav etc. But Baabar is scripted upon one person who has balls, like Scarface, but
more about his balls its about his stupidity in his own game. The film ranks amongst the better lot this year
thanks to the writing of the film, the film is documenty being told us in the easiest way as possible, the
story telling is where Baabar wins. The film is violent and that its foundation where Baabar stands on,
the exectuation of every scene has a special touch to it and thanks to the director he made it look right.
The performance of Mithun and Om Puri and sure to make you clap.

Downs
Sadly the film falls for two reason, first the actor Suham is completly miscast and has to be one of the worst
actors to make their debut in an action film. Second, the climax is too, well, stupid is the best word. Sure you
dont expect what happens but still it could have been much basic and better to exit the film.

Peformances

Mithun Chakraborthy is the star of Baabar who completly carries the film in his pocket, stealing the show
under every actor's eye. Bravo, salute to legend!

Om Puri has his moments in the film and each moment surely hits the jackpot everytime

Sushant Singh brings the house down with his first scene for sure, improvement made as an actor

Tinu Anand and Shakti Kapoor are back after a long time and make an impact on all of us

Suham goes over-board

Overall
Baabar surely does fit into the better lot of this year but not the best, surely I could see Baabar twice, no
seconds on that! But yes, like a lot of films Baabar has its downs. But nevertheless, a pretty neat piece of work.

Film: Fox
Starring: Sunny Deol, Arjun Rampal, Sagarika Ghatge, Udita Goswami
Director: Deepak Tijori
Producer: Deepak Tijori, Zee Pictures
Release: September 4, 2009

Ups
Even being made by a terrible director Foxx still stands on its two feet in terms of the genre it been made it,
thriller. Fox is indeed the most entertaining film come from the director and the film wins because of its suspence
that builds up towards the end. The twists and turns all conclude in during the plot, pretty well handled subject
and well handled plot too. The performances by both main leads are top notch.

Downs
The film falls for two major reason, the climax and the main leading actresses. The climax is one of the worst,
the main reason behind the whole plot just goes to complete waste, not a proper reason to keep the film in place
and does not justify it properly. The two actresses are complete stigmas on actresses in Bollywood, both so bad!

Performances

Arjun Rampal does surely hit the right buttons this time around, after OSO and Rock On the actor now knows
how to play his cards right.

Sunny Deol looks back in form after a very long time, he actually gets a chance to act instead of fight.
Suprisingly a good performance

Sagrika and Udita are both horrid

Overall
Fox could have been a great thriller but thanks to the stupid twist at the end it completly flattens out the film.
But for a one time watch Fox is enjoyable, and the performances in the film and suspence is sure to make a good
watch.

Tijori finally gets it right

Film: Vaada Raha...
Starring: Bobby Deol, Mohnish Behl, Kangana Raunat, Dwij Yadav
Director: Samir Karnik
Producer: Sunil A. Lulla
Release: September 11, 2009

Ups
This maybe one of most emotional films I have seen in years which shreds a few tears, and this is where the film
works. Vaada Raha is about hope and that all have it inside us and it makes us live, Vaada Raha deals one such
story. Some scenes happen to clearly sweep people off their feet in the one, the director knows where he is
coming from and what is trying to say so clearly. The scenes between Bobby and Dwij are some of the best scenes
I have seen this decade, and sure do make you cry. The more said the less, the film wins in nearly every side.

Downs
I guess the only downside is depressing scenes and slow pace of the film hold you back to the film one more time,
and thats about all!

Performances

Bobby Deol delivers one of his finest performances he has given. Soldier, Gupt, Badal, Bichhoo and Humraaz
are his best and Vaada Raha can now added especially near the top!

Dwij Yadav is a boy full of talent, the kid can see a bright future

Mohnish Behl is back after a while, and back in form once again

Kangana Raunat is wasted

Overall
Vaada Raha does list itself in the better lot this year for sure. The film is shot well, explained well, performances
are top and most of all the message is surely larger then life. And the climax, surely to tears. This one is a winner
for sure.

Another under-rated film gone down

Image

Film:Blue
Starring: Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Zayed Khan, Lara Dutta, Katrina Kaif & Rahul Dev
Director: Anthony D'souza
Producer: Dhillin Mehta
Music: A R Rahman
Release: 16th Oct 2009

Ups
Its hard to say where Blue stands, its not violet, not vulgar and not filled with cheesy action. The main selling
point of the film is its own unique action style, where we some extraordinary under water scenes. Like a normal
action film the story is basic aswell, its not trying to be intelligent and it does not need to be. Well directed,
brillantly shot, great action scenes and well executed. Some sequences stand very tall and you can where the
money has been spent, it was worth the ride.

Downs
The weakest two links of the film are: a poor climax and Sanjay Dutt. Sadly the ending is too rushed to
enhance a thrill, to shock the audience with the main twist and therefore it fails badly. The director should
have extended the film's length for the ending. Dutt gives his worst performance since Shaadi No.1. A role so
important is given to someone who looks completly disintrested, sad to see a great actor or even legend gone
to complete waste.

Performances

Akshay Kumar owns Blue. The star who dashes us with a character who talks without speaking, the suit,
the facial hair etc. Akshay has proved he does not need to run his career on comedy and proves he is still,
still a Khiladi. Akshay too carries some of the best dialouges in the film which really go with the character.

Zayed Khan finally gets a role he suits as the young biker boyand passes with flying colours. Would love
to see more of this young boy in roles like this like normally we see this boy overact.

Rahul Dev comes in surprise pack. Neat and cool.

Sanjay Dutt is huge letdown. Awful performance. Sunny Deol or even a Kumar Gaurav would have
the role better.

Lara Dutta is okay, looks hot.

Katrina Kaif was not really needed.

Overall
Simple story but great action, this is what Blue has to offer. How many action films in the past have had a great
story? Dhoom or Dhoom 2 didn't have great plots but still great action and following this genre we get Blue. People
may go down on Blue hard because the story is weak, but the same need to look at it in the angle that its an
action film and does it win as one? Of course. Blue stands amongst the most risky film anyone has shot and
there it wins.

A Stylish Piece of Action

Film: All The Best
Starring: Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Mugdha Godse
Director: Rohit Shetty
Producer: Ajay Devgan
Music: Pritam
Release: 16 Oct 2009

Ups
For a completly wacky Diwali, ATB is the correct film to go for. The film may have a thin plot but so did Shetty's
last few films, and most of them worked. So to watch something like ATB in a cinema full, could not make your
day better. To put things straight, ATB is complete, out and out comedy with some great written dialouges
and one liners. As comedy is the hardest genre, its great to see the makers being successful at making one
and they passed. Some great performances and very, very handled scenes!

Downs
ATB is packed with some unwanted sequences and songs. The band song after the interval and the fight sequence
straight after is not needed and can be chopped, there are few other scenes like that too. The ending, well, could
have been better and the film could have finished on a better note.

Performances

Sanjay Mishra is the star of the show. I don't remember the last time I had laughed so much in a cinema
then did at Mishra. His comic timing is ace, his expression are priceless. I would love to see the film once more
for this comedian.

Ajay Devgan is back on track after a while, in Golmaal Returns he was good but this was better.
I hope to see this actor turning a comedy actor soon, because guy knows what he is doing.

Johnny Lever is in form after a long time. The spoof on Prem Nath in Karz is really funny, this actor is
star when it comes to comedy, hope to see more of him.

Sanjay Dutt gets his comic timing right. Sometimes he goes badly wrong but here, great. Baba is back
as the comedian.

Fardeen Khan does pretty good job

Bipasha Basu and Mugdha Godse do leave a mark

Overall
Golmaal was good, Sunday was crap and Golmaal Returns was decent. ATB stands the best comedy from Shetty.
A great gift for Diwali that does deserve repeat viewings, the chemisty with the actors is ace. The dialouges,
the acting and the director are all up to the mark. Really a great for the weekend.

Jus Chill.....and watch it again!

Film: Main Aurr Mrs Khanna
Starring: Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Dino Morea, Yash Tonk
Director: Prem Soni
Producer: UTV & Sohail Khan
Music: Sajid Wajid
Release: 16th Oct 2009

Ups
I would to keep this part simple. The plus side to this film is the presence of a great performer like Kareena Kapoor,
Preity Zinta's item number and basic but a simple outline story for a drama.

Downs
Pakao, Bakwas, Dabba are the words MAMK can be explained in. Sohail Khan's 'family movies' continue. Pyaar Kiya
Toh Darna Kya was little annoying and Hello Brother was beyond tolerable. MAMK follows the same league.
Overacting to the limit, and this is one reason it made it hard for me to sit in MAMK. The film is over boared
with stupid characters, a story which could have developed and became a proper full fledged masala movie.
It takes guts to sit through a film like this.

Performances

Kareena Kapoor does give it her best shot but you can tell she was in it for the money. Sad to see someone
like Kareena doing something like this.

Salman Khan looks drunk in half of the scenes and the role itself is pretty plain, anyone could have done it.

Sohail Khan and the rest of the brady bunch really need a life and a career

Overall
MAMK is a nightmare for a Diwali celebration and will always be looked as one. Salman needs to produce more
sensible films and if he has a sensible script, then please sir, don't get drunk and act in them. MAMK has to be
the worst film for Salman seen in years.

The B Grade Gift For Diwali

Image

Film: London Dreams
Starring: Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan, Asin, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Rannvijay Singh, Om Puri
Director: Vipul Shah
Producer: Aashin Shah
Music: Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy
Release: 30th Oct 2009

Ups
LD brought us one of the best trailers of the decade, so the film should really twice as good! Expectations like that
wont do you any good. LD is very commercial film, a story which is so very desi and story which atleast one film
got right. The script is the soul in this case, the story which you could say it does mish-mash a few film
together and the end result? great! LD offers out a great message, in fact maybe a couple, but what leaves the
impression is its treatment. The good part about it is that it gone into the right hands, the director has done
justice to the script. Performances? Neat. Music? Could have been a little better. Story? The best this year so
far. As yes, a special for the intermission, the best intermission this year easily.

Downs
The first biggest downfall is that two actors aged 40-45 are playing roles of rockstars, both have bags under their eyes and age does really show.
Into the second half, we do have some unwanted scenes and some songs too, the sequences that build up to the destruction to Salman are not
well handled, they could have been a little more better. Also, the second gives a rushed feel.

Performances

Ajay Devgan in my opinion is the better performer. Not because he had the better role or he was main
but because he was the only, andI mean only actor that could have done the role. A character that someone
can really relate to, as in our lives at some stage we have all been jealous. I class this as 'the rebirth of Devgan'!

Salman Khan works wonders. In the cinema, he deserves all the claps and the seeties, his dialougs
are extraordiary, the scene when he performes on the stagehas to be the best in the film. A great performance,
infact his best performance this year. His punjabi could have been a little better, thats all.

Aditya Roy Kapoor seems like a mature performer, nice to see this new face

Asin fails to impress

Rannvijay Singh and Om Puri are okay

Overall
The film gives a simple message, there is no I in Team. A great message told in a larger then life story,
the film does entertain among its sequences and the concert scenes does spark a fire, especially the first
concert scene before the intermission has to be a scene to be rememberd. Some loose ends but on a whole,
a neat film.

Image
Devgan - Sallu's second outstanding film together, and more to come..

Image

Film: Do Knot Disturb
Starring: Govinda, Sushmita Sen, Lara Dutta, Ritesh Deshmukh & Sohail Khan
Director: David Dhawan
Producer: Vashu Bhagnani
Music: Nadeem - Shravan
Release: 2nd Oct 2009

Ups
David - Govinda together once again. Okay so what does it have to offer this time around? Another complete
commercial film. Continuing with today's voice, comedy. The film may not be new but some things make it worth
while. The presence of Govinda. Lara Dutta and Sushmita Sen both look extraordinary. And some crazy gags.

Downs
DKD has to be the worst David Dhawan film since Shaadi No.1 or maybe even worse then that. The story is way
too hollow, how can any normal person make a story on this? There was no story! Just a complete mixup of No Entry,
Shaadi No.1 and Biwi No.1, thats all. Stupid is the word I am looking for. As its suppose to be a comedy, there are
hardly any scenes which from the top of your mind you can laugh at, none at all! Music? Bakwas! Acting? If there
was any. Comedy? the film itself is a joke.

Performances

Ritesh Deshmukh is the only person who puts his hands down and says he is going to act. The film belongs
to him, nice way to progress.

Lara Dutta looks awesome and does a pretty good job too

Sushmita Sen works wonders in any scene, but needed more footage

Govinda is a letdown. This could have been more of cameo.

Sohail Khan is wasted

Overall
David Dhawan screws up badly this time around, maybe the success of Partner got him. How can he make a film
with Govinda and Vashu and screw it up seeing these guys have had a good history. Sad!

Image
Hope David does not screw up Hook Ya Crook!

Image

Film: Acid Factory
Starring: Fardeen Khan, Manoj Bajpai, Irrfan Khan, Danny Denzongpa, Aftab Shivdasani, Dino Morea, Dia Mirza
Director: Suparn Verma
Producer: Sanjay Gupta
Music: Bappa Lahiri, Ranjit Barot
Release: 9th Oct 2009

Ups
Where other thrillers end, this begins. Sticking to its tagline, AF really does fulfil it. It might be a remake,
but who cares? Which is original these days. Being a thriller, the point is that AF does work in that genre. It does not waste time, the very first scene hits the hammer and gets straight into business. A great script for starters and it gets
you guessing all the way through the film and its very concieved. The actual twist is pretty good, it does
shock you in the right parts. To put it straight, it does not let you down.

Downs
The narration could have been neater, as in it flicks from past to present all the time when it should have done that less. Also the ending is a letdown, way too rushed and not well handled. Some improvements were to be made. Also the bike sequences, the stunts etc where not really needed they could have been chopped.

Performances

Fardeen Khan does a pretty good job and the film belongs to him. Even though he is main, he does not get over shadowed by anyone.

Manoj Bajpai is great for the laughs, some scenes with him Danny are sure to bring the house down. Great to see him in this one.

Danny Denzongpa being a very mature, senior actor does pull of this one with ease. He stands real tall.

Aftab Shivdasani looks the role and is back with a role he actually acts well in

Dino Morea and Dia Mirza are just okay

Irrfan Khan has the build up but not the scenes

Overall
Something decent enough to watch for the first time around, second time, maybe. But definetly for the first
time. It has style, it has a story and it has suspence. A few things were short to make it perfect.
