I was thinking the same, I thought the trailer were meant to sell you the film and make it all exciting. Major FAIL!

I'd fault the director. Film's premise and cast is great. The execution though looks boring.

My god, what is with the absurd level of cynicism and negativity in this forum? Isn't anyone ever genuinely excited about anything, anymore, other than apparently "art-house" or "award-nominee" projects?

I haven't yet seen the film, but I think the trailer looks interesting and the picture might be fun.

I haven't yet seen Aladin, or seen many of the promos, so I can't comment specifically on that (I do like the title track though!!)

As for the cynicism and negativity, I feel that it is reflective of the quality of films being churned out by the Hindi film industry at the moment. 9 out of 10 films are turning out to be complete rubbish, even those that are hugely hyped. Films like Kambakkht Ishq and Blue wasted huge budgets and international names, and turned out to be a complete waste of time. As for 'art-house/award-nominee' projects, I've just watched Jail, and I nearly fell asleep, more than once. When film after film disappoints, it's not surprising that people are negative about Hindi films.

With regards to the forthcoming films, I can't honestly say I'm excited by anything, but I will probably make an effort to watch:

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (it looks fun)
Kurbaan
Rocket Singh - Salesman of The Year
3 Idiots

I've been away from Indian movies for a while, now, but, I don't know if poor quality of cinema is totally the reason for what I see as negativity. Rather, cynicism just seems to feel well at home in the Internet age, in which appearing jaded and supercilious feels to be more commendable than exhibiting authentic enthusiasm for anything that could be viewed as "common." I don't know — maybe I'm simply wrong.

Me personally would side with all the extended cynicism reflected on this forum with regards to the discussion of Hindi cinema(although I, myself have been involved in actual conversations at a very minimal level) at a very poor state. It's in my opinion that many are internally depressed with the current state of the world. Added ontop a global recession. It's hard to enjoy utopianized rubbish in the present date, even if it's in the name of "escapism". Interestingly, Jean Renoir believed that the best in world cinema is always in top form when the world isn't in the best of times. I'd like to believe this, but I lack to see how? Maybe, somone could enlighten me with some current exceptional films out there. Even beyond Hindi films; Hollywood is equally lame as Bollywood now-a-days. Additionally, this has been a very uninteresting year for hindi films, the only two films I hold in high regard are; Luck By Chance & Gulaal.

I'll say, I was completely underwhelmed by the 2009 Oscar nominees for Best Picture. The winner, Slumdog Millionaire, considered in its entirety, was ludicrously stupid; The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, I felt, was glossy and watchable (it should have won against its competitors), but ultimately a bit over-done; and I've not yet watched The Reader or The Wrestler (was there a fifth contender?). Though it won't, because it's an "animated film," I think Up! might end up deserving to win Best Picture, 2010 (and, as I see it, it isn't even Pixar's finest work).

Well, has anyone seen Aladin? I recently did, and I found it pretty entertaining (in a good way).

I watched UP a couple of times at the cinemas! Amazing piece of work. I've seen many films this year, and I'm going to be hella disappointed if UP doesn't win Best Film awards...and not just creative/technical awards.

I haven't read the reviews for Aladin(except for the comments here) but from the trailer, it looks interesting.
