After a long time comes a movie which has repeat value. All the characters have a role which doesnt get mixed up with others. It reminded me of the theater format of 'Jatra', a Bengali Art form. These are typically 3-4 hour long performance, laden with drama, music and action, and the unique feature is that each character lives his life span in the drama. The character has a beginning and an end, so all are important and take the drama forward. In Kaminey, all the characters take the film forward, even the dead Micheal comes in the end to be avenged for his murder.
The script could have turned into a slapstick in the hands of Directors like Priyadarshan or it could have become the mainstream bollywood blockbuster with more masala into it. But here we see the genius of VB. Shahid Kapur has played himeself as stammering Guddu and performed with equal ease as the restrained -small time-shortcut-ambitious-not bad guy. And that is why the movie is not dark despite mafia, crime and badwagon of baddies. Priyanka, much to my surprise has acted well. She is completely herself and convincing in her role, with great comic timing. Her energy takes the movie forward too. In the end credit there were many fresh names and I am sure we will be seeing more of these talented artist in the future.
A great experience after a long time.

Bhardwaj needs a standing ovation. The film unravels slowly and meticulously and you need to give it attention and patience.

The dialogues are hilarious and aplenty, and the film is not heavy on the soul like Vishal's Shakespeare adaptations. But the real USPs of the film are the brilliant performances and the great plot twists. Can't wait to watch it again.

did you catch the "bela bahadur" references shahid makes to priyanka? Bahadur used to be a much loved comicbook hero in the Indrajal Comics published in India long back.

meanwhile there's trouble brewing on the "Apna Haath Jagannath" graffiti shown in the movie, scribbled above the pic of a scantily-clad girl pasted on a bathroom door.

had high expectations going into the film. walked out disappointed.

2 major flaws IMHO:
1) Shahid Kapoor - Vivek Oberoi would've suited the roles better.
2) Songs - Killed the momentum of the otherwise decent film..nothing to rave about.
