Upbeat, entertaining and trendy with a surprisingly good performance from Deepika. (Believe it or not, she often anchors the movie. And here I thought, she was incapable of acting.)

I've been impressed with each of Imtiaz's 3 films to date. He's getting progressively better with each release, which is the opposite of the trend for Bollywood directors.

My only complaint is that the final act of each of his ventures loses me. Jab We Met's denouement ruined the film and Love Aaj Kal has too conventional a termination. It's the ending we've seen in umpteen films and I think Imtiaz is capable of better. But even he, I guess, must bow to the dictates of the box office.

watched it with my sugar and both of us related so much to so much of the movie :-)

possible spoiler
quick question -- what if it was some other actor playing the young rishi kapoor -- would it have been the same movie?

If that's the case, I would rather see him work with unstar like actors, where room for work isn't compromised. Having seen all of his work so far, Socha Na Tha still remains his best film, and Love Aaj Kal the one I like the least. Even Ahista Ahista was half decent, even though his only involvement was in the writing department.

Creative control, to me, seems almost impossible in an industry that stands as a result of producing films more visible as a product on sale as oppose to an artistic achievement meant to psychologically challenge it's viewer.
