Clever use of perspective... He's not nearly as big as he looks here.

LOL! I may be an Aamir Khan fan

But here he looks like elf in the last pic! They shud have left it with his head down.....

Doesn't it look like a cut paste morph job? Aamir's head on someone's body?

Gajini has only Amir Khan worth mentioning. The plot is too thin.

SPOILERS BELOW
The love story lacks warmth. The Gajini doesnt turn out to be such a big monster as was implied, his accent, his level of operation was too small and unimpressive to have the film named after that character. I would have loved to travel though Sanjay Singhania's character in a morer linear fashion where I could feel his pain more closely. Towards the end his plight and pain becomes emphatic but thats momentary. I wish the heroine had more warmth and some love for Sanjay Singhania. Her love for him seemed an extension of her warm nature towards all humanity in general.
In short..the emotions were completely sacrificed for muscle building, weired hairdo in Amir Khan saga. :(

What a disappointment :-(
(Beware of spoilers in the post above.)

Here's a much better version of the movie ;-) -- http://www.oktatabyebye.com/gajodhar/in ... nal/banner Parental Guidance Strongly Advised!! Some may find the AV offensive!

At your risk, watch it with Speakers at full volume!!!

Watched an interview with the director (Murugadas) and he mentioned that Aamir excercised 3 hours / day for over 3 months to get this build. They were showing the videos of his Gym activities as well, starting with a cute little tummy with extra flush on the sides. It is not morphed. It is real.

About movie - Tamil climax was crappier than Hindi climax, but Surya's performance was significantly better than Aamir's, but the english version is the best. The funniest of all is in one of the local hindi channel, they showed memento with dubbed hindi voice!!!! so wonder if it was on purpose or coincidence!!!

Saw Ghajini.

Film is a Blockbuster, so must have something for everyone. I liked (a lot) the nth copied plot, that's 60% of the film that I have already seen in a few earlier films. Sajan (Manoj, Asha Parekh) and an earlier David Niven film.

I don't like 'Bhai' culture films, so not much attraction there except that here Amir Khan is out to get justice in adverse conditions as he doesn't remember anything any longer than 15 min.

(Reminds me of one Mandrake series where 4 worlds at war for thousand of Yrs get Mandrake to mediate a truce. Mandrake asks why fighting and how it all started ?? No one knows or remembers events of thousands of Yrs ago. Then why fight ? Problem solved.)

Overall, I liked the film.

Film run time was 185 min from start of beginning credits to the end of end credits.
DD & DTS logos were in the end credits.
I didn't feel any surround activity. Front speakers only.

Plot summary for
Sajan (1969)

Ashok (Manoj Kumar) comes from a business family and lives a very wealthy lifestyle. One day while perusing newspapers he comes across an article which claims that he is to marry a dancer named Rajni (Asha Parekh). Angered at this insinuation, he goes to confront Rajni, all ready to threaten with a lawsuit, but is instead bewitched by her beauty and innocence and ends up falling in love with her. Initially he does not reveal his real identity, but - - - - -

Oh, it's Memento. I was searching Momento.

Possible Spoilers Below
--------------------------------------
Memento plot clearly states, lead character remembers nothing after 15 min of events after the head blow but remembers everything before the blow.

In Ghajini, they show/ indicate it, again and again, that the lead character doesn't remember anything after 15 min including his times prior to head blow (Ridiculous). If he doesn't remember anything, how did he feel initially that he has to take revenge from someone for something and start taking Poloroid pictures every 15 min ?? He must have stayed in Hospital, unconscious, for more than 15 min.

--------------------------------------

BTW, I have seen in other Bollywood films as well, they show Poloroid camera (Ghajini plot is year 2005). Is Poloroid still more common to use in India as compared to new tech Digital cameras ?? Or, may be Poloroid is all they have available for stage supplies rentals ??

Also, I consider Ghajini to be a copy of Manoj Kumar's Sajan than of Memento as I said before, 60% of Ghajini plot is that of Sajan. And it's the Sajan plot that I liked more than the Memento's flawed copying effort.

Ghajini, though a monster commercial success, is quite flawed in many ways, and not the best that could have been done with the plot. The guy who played the villain is terribly miscast too, I felt. Look up Kalptanu's an sengh_15's comments above -- I agree with all that (be advised of possible spoilers).

If you can stomach the length, which is seriously an hour too long, the payoff is great. It's the kind of movie I would have gone bonkers over when I was a teen, but the over-the-top action and unnecessarily long back-story is quite embarassing to sit through.
Thankfully for us, Asin is an amazing discovery. She makes the most boring scenes tolerable cause of great screen presence.
The film is basically a revenge thriller and ripped off Memento, but oh well. I'm just glad for Aamir it's nowhere as intolerable as Fanaa. Subhan-Allah indeed. ( 7/10 )
