And where is this Disney TZP? Didn't Disney supposedly have a 3 month lead time when the T-Series version was released, in July?

Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na DVDs from UTV & T-series -- dts would have made for great repeat viewing of songs, but the SONGS MENU forces dolby digital 5.1 (if you select a song from the this menu) and does not allow you to switch to dts.
SAD! :? :(

The Panasonic BD55 has not had a single issue with playing any BDs or DVDs so far. In fact it played the Disc 2 (Special Features) of Jaane Tu.. Ya Jaane Na.. perfectly fine. Also, this is not a case of freezing up, but rather the disc simply cannot be read. In any case to put this debate to rest, I have now tried playing Disc 1 on 'THREE' different players other than the Panasonic BD55, with the same result. The disc cannot be read in any of them, with the PS3 being the only player to succesfully play it. I am sure it is not a case of rot, for it is brand new, therefore there has not been enough time for any rot to set in, but rather it is a typical case of T-Series using cheap and crappy media. As it is 'silver' media is not a good idea for dual layered discs, which is what Indian DVD manufacturers all seem to use, T-Series seems to, like 'Video Sound' used to, use the cheapest and crappiest media they can lay their hands on.

Sanjay, other fans, there are reports from the market abt freezing problems with the t-series DVD -- appears that t-series have messed up the replication... Disappointed fans should contact t-series for free replacements -- see the SARKAR RAJ DVD thread for contact details. I have already written them an e-mail.

On DVD, this is the original theatrical version without the female Jaane Tu Mera Kya Hai song seamlessly added, though the missing song is on the bonus disc (but in stereo).

Also the male version of the same song is NOT in the movie itself but on the extras disc.

Have a very unusual question for you.

You see we had two more songs in the film, one is the female version of Jaane Tu Mera Kya Hai, Jaane Tu Mera Kya Tha… sung by Runa , and the other is the male version of the same song sung by Sukhvinder. Both songs had been shot. In the test screenings we decided to cut out the male version because we felt it stopped the flow of the story. However opinion on the female version was divided. Through all the test screenings and the final edit we were not sure whether to cut that song out or retain it in the film. Sometimes we would remove it, then we would put it back in. A.R., if I remember correctly, wanted it to stay in. We finally decided to complete the final copy (first print) with the song in it. We figured we would see the final film and then take a final call whether to keep it or cut it out.

...

Want your opinion.

Should it have been in the film? Do you think we should add the song into the film now? The song is ready and its easy enough for me to do...

Have really enjoyed reading all the comments. Once again the opinion is divided. Such fun.

Though, those in favor of adding the song seem to be in the majority. So, for those of you who want it in, the song is in but for just ONE WEEK. You see all of us feel that what we released is what we see the film as. And that we don’t want to change. This is more like an experiment. A one week experiment.

So the film will play with the song from tomorrow, i.e. Friday 18th July, for just one week.

Today I got my copy of the 'Jaane Tu.. Ya Jaane Na..' DVD replaced and the new copy seems to work fine on all my players including the Panasonic BD55. Unfortunately the issue of the sound being locked to only Dolby Digital when playing the songs from the song menu, is a mastering issue and thus replacing the discs is not going to help and we are stuck with this retarded decision. But having said that, I think the sound quality of this DVD is one of the best if not the best ever on a Hindi DVD.

Screen shots do not look like the DVD - sorry Sengh bhai - I appreciate the time that you take to post the shots but for some reason they don't look like the DVD. IMHO the DVD was crisp with good colour definition and a sharp picture.

sengh buddy, do you take SS off your laptop? I have a laptop that always results in shots that are dull... looks like some hardware/drivers/colours issue. However, my desktop and the other laptop always give great SS.

I use to take them from a laptop but now my PC. I would not know anything about this issue to be honest but I even tried Dostana and JTYJN on my 16x9 TV and its pretty below the standard I expected.

Also Muz, If my PC has a problem I request u or someone to show me how it really should look like. Otherwise Zulmi's and guests at Zulm will keep getting fooled.

Shots from an NTSC DVD should be captured at 852x480 resolution - yours are being captured incorrectly at 960x536. Also, any colour filters your DVD player program is using (such as 'Vivid mode') must be set to off.

Sorry yaar - I only have laptops (no desktop PC) so I can't post any comparison shots. I tried both DVDs on my 50" Panny 1080p plasma and they look really sharp and crisp. I am using an Oppo DVD player and also tried them in my PS3 - not sure if the upconverting is causing the DVDs to look better on my display? This is the first time I have noticed that the actual DVD looking better than the screenshots though.

I'll retake the shots as according to Stephen's instructions and see if there is any difference from the earlier shots
