This is lifted from http://www.indiafm.com

"The second project Aamir has given his confirmation to is the remake of the Tamil hit GHAJINI. “It’s the first time I am acting in a Tamil remake and I am pretty excited about it. It’s not one of those typical masala films imported in Bollywood.

There’s solid substance in this one,” Aamir enthuses. The director of the Tamil film, Murugadoss, will direct the Hindi version as well, the actor adds."

A newer Ghajini movie thread started by Khiladi ( http://www.zulm.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9727 ) has been merged into this older thread.

you'll be happy if Jayraj's music(songs) is re-used. 8)

some of the sound effects(bgm?), high pitch screetchy noise, killed my ears though.

Isn't there already a Hindi remake of Memento? Moksha starring Arjun Rampal?

Have you even seen MOKSHA? That's no remake of MEMENTO. :P

Coming back to this so-called "GHAJINI-remake": it is disgusting! First they don't acknowledge that it is not a "GHAJINI-remake" but a "MEMENTO-remake", and second who needs a remake of that brilliant movie? :?

Where is Indian cinema going if big actors like Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan act shamelessly in these ripoff-movies. :bangbang:

I haven't seen it but that's what people have told me and also in the user comments of IMDb. Oh well.

Well, that's not true. MOKSHA is quite a good movie, and as far as I know, not a copy of another movie. The story is entirely different from MEMENTO, so I don't understand how anyone can say that the films are similar. Anyway, do watch it if you can. :)

if they acknowledge that a particular movie is going to be a remake of another movie, then how is it a ripoff?????
and
if the director has made a film and that director now makes the same film in different language with new cast, would you call this also a ripoff????

and
what is wrong with doing a remake?
however remakes should be done with high quality in mind
imo, well done remakes of good movies (especially) in other languages should be WELCOMEd
i don't mind subtitles but lot of people don't like reading subs
also something is always lost in the translation even when well done
b/c subtitles can't convey the cultural stuff
you would only understand the cultural stuff if you are familiar with the culture where the movie is based

why does amir want to remake this stupid movie...

better just remake memento itself..

the heroine had more scope to act than the dull/boring hero character... i don't know what amir sees in it.

So the shooting of Ghajini is in full progress here are some images from Indiafm
http://indiafm.com/features/2007/09/13/3027/index.html

Anyway has anyone actually seen the original?? If you haven't then please do. Surya was awesome! I am waiting to see what Aamir does with this role.

Also not sure why all the bollywood sites keep stressing on "two" leading ladies. Asin is the only lead opp aamir like she was in the original aswell. the role Jia is playing is not opp aamir, she plays a doctor who is studying his case.

I've made a few caps from the original so you guys get a idea what type of look surya went for in the original.

Wasn't Alag "inspired by" Powder?
