I & family caught it last night at Cineplex. I had heard of negative reports and hence didn't go with high expectations. The film is long (178 min) and I found it a bit un-exciting in the first half. But, as they reach year 2050 at interval, film gets entertaining. Well, it was good enough for me and family. Some trimming in theatrical run time may help ?? It has hints of "Fifth Element", "Star Wars", "Back To The Future", "Krrish" etc but that was expected. Music was just OK and one or two were really good rocking numbers.
Aggressive bass and surround sound was active at times.

Film was supposed to start Friday but the print got stuck somewhere in transit and I don't think many people knew that the 8:30 PM show, on Tuesday, was the first show of the film in Ottawa. I've never seen a big theatre this full in Ottawa for an Indian film (350 - 400 viewers).

End credits showed just DD logo meaning no DTS.
CC showed a film length of 4962 meters (as far as I remember) that's equiv to 181 min. Theatrical run time was 178 min from Censor Cert to DD logo.

- OK for family viewing. No embarrassing moments.

I just got the Adlabs DVD of this film and it's really not that bad. The story/acting is as typical as any other bollywood film. The special effects are surprisingly very good. And the main dude, no where in the same acting league of Hrithik, is not that bad as well.

I have some questions about the movie and the dvd though. Were there three scenes in the film that was awkwardly removed?

First, there seemed like there was a scene removed right after they arrive in the future. Everyone is starring at the futuristic skyline, then all of a sudden it cuts to the family escaping the police. I feel like there was some big action scene removed such as the family getting in the city, exploring, and then the police see how they are the time machine owners, and then a big chase scene ensues. Due to a later scene of the villain saying, "oh, he's on his sky scooter again," it seemed like that the main character had a chase scene on his flying sky scooter earlier in the film and not just at the end of the film.

Second, they don't show who the villain is? Is there some scene where he's unmasked? My theory is that the villain is the main character's father, since they showed how they didn't have a good relationship at the beginning. If that is true, did the director decide to cut out this scene because it's too dark?

Third, right when they time travel back to the present time at the end of the film, it cuts straight to the credits. It seemed to end abruptly as if another scene was removed.

It's okay to remove scenes, but not if something seems like something was obviously removed that throws off the whole flow and common sense of the film.

Did anyone else notice this?

I just finished watching the movie on the BIG dvd. Coincidence -- the date they land on in the future is 23 Sept ;-) (though 2050), was fun to see this movie on 21 Sep 2008.

The movie is pretty well presented and nowhere do you feel the sets or dresses look naqli or downstreet... oh no, everything looks cool! Good SFX, good storyboarding I guess. All in all, quite enjoyable!!

It looks better and more asli than Koi Mil Gaya and is arguably Bollywood's best looking sci fi ever.

toddly6666 check out the dvd thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10565&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

That was when we saw the film in theatre (heard the songs/ music first time in theatre). The music has really grown on us now and it really rocks. Audio CD is favorite listening in car and the DVD is family favorite for repeat viewing.
