DCH BR not before spring 09. UTV is not involved.

looks like the dvd authoring was neither done by utv nor by BIG -- it was Ashutosh G's decision all the way... and both have used the same source material.

Who's decision was it to falsely label the DVD as "16x9 ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN" on the back of the DVD cover?

thankfully, there's no such claim on the Big Home Videos dvd case; not to say that that makes things any better ;-)

If this movie gets released on Blu Ray while leaving the UTV version as the only DVD option, does anyone think this is a conspiracy between Sony and UTV to get Indians to convert to Blu Ray?
looong shot, mate!!

toddly6666, seriously, what is your own feel of whose decision it may have been to print that on the utv dvd case? have you tried contacting utv so far? have they responded? what are they saying? look up my previous comments for the necessary e-mail addresses. i have written to them in the past for the defective sound in the last few minutes of the Namesake dvd and they did respond saying they'd recalled the defective discs from the market and they replaced my disc as well. do write to them and share your experience here. go hammer and tongs (if you haven't already).

UTV should RECALL this junk, it is not worth for $10, they should have rather present this as 4:3 MODIFIED TO FIT YOUR SET for their valued viewers, who fall in that category! but darn, NO, it takes $$$$ to make such transfer :(

While we justifiably criticize Ahustosh Gowarikar, UTV & BIG Home Video for this DVD, I feel it is only fair to also mention the positives.
1. NO SUPERIMPOSED LOGOS.
2. NO FORCED PREVIEWS OR COMMERCIALS.
3. NO LOCKING OF CONTROLS.

I think the Parineeta DVD by Excel, is by far the best Indian DVD released so far and I wish all Indian DVD manufacturers, ironically including Excel themselves, should use that as a benchmark while planning their DVD releases. Sorry Lagaan is a Sony release and thus not really an Indian DVD. Also the Laggan DVD has no song menu or chapter marks for songs, two very major goof ups on the part of Sony.

The only way I can assume you would get in touch with him is through his website.

My version had a UTV log appear in the bottom-right every so often.

Can anyone spare a BWT invite, so that I can at least watch an anamorphic version of the crappy version I paid for...

I called them. The lady on the phone didn't even know that Jodhaa Akbar has been released and said that it must be a priate copy. LOL.

I may try the US number when they wake up.
