The Bodega DVD is a PAL conversion of the first YRF release (with the dull colours).

Oops, sorry. I meant PAL version of the first YRF DVD. It's not interlaced at least.

so is it from the original pal master that yrf used for creating an ntsc dvd?

I wanted to re-encode my dvd9 anyway...this looked SO much better on my 60" plasma than the original dvd9. and if i've sacrificed a few pixels...so be it. also, just wanted to know if i could sucessfully and i did - was done more for self-satisfaction than anything else.

FarooqBhai, I guess you re-encoded the YRF NTSC DVD that was PAL to NTSC conversion, most likely field averaged.
I wonder how much better results will you get if you made a PAL DVD sourcing it from Bodega version that's PAL DVD from PAL master and hence default progressive (4% speed up though). And, is it possible to convert it back to 24 fps progressive NTSC (orig speed recovered back).

Keep in mind though that the Bodega DVD uses the old PAL master, not the newly colour-graded one.

This is a very good DVD. It does not use the same PAL master as the YRF disc. This one is better - sharper, more natural colours and without any DNR problems. Recommended![googlevideo][/googlevideo]

The Yash Raj version I bought appears to be exactly the same as the REM screenshots provided here. Except its NTSC. Pseudo Progressive, maybe. It doesn't have any speed shift. The running length clocks around 2:53 hours. Does the PAL REM DVD have the same length? Or is it shorter (because of PAL speedup)?

Consider these screenshots for comparison...
