I think Salman will play the role played by Rahman ( ofcourse they will increase his screen time), Priyanka would ofcourse play Meena Kumari's role, Vidhya Balan : Waheeda Rahman and John would don Guru Dutts role.

I would rather see vidya play meena kumari, priyanka lacks that range imho

If they had to re-make this then I would have liked to see:

Vidya Balan in Meena Kumari's role (Chhoti Bahu)
Manoj Bajpai in Rahman's role (Chhote Sarkar)
Amrita Rao or Konkona Sen Sharma or Soha Ali Khan for Waheeda Rehman's role (Jabba)
Shiney Ahuja for Guru Dutt's role (Bhootnath)

That would probably make it worth watching - however I don't understand why they can't pick up any of the thousands of Indian novels to make in to movies instead of re-hashing the ones that have been made before?

Salman Khan should be no where near this film. Yuck.

that is excellent pick. but I think, nandy has their nose in sallu's bottom, like rgv/vvc have in bachans and chopras/johars in sarooks
