dvdisoil

thanks for the link. There are many +ve reviews, but i dont to post here. it doesnt serve any purpose. the collection speaks for itself.

This isnt' devar magan or mahanadhi or guna or anbe shivam, all of which failed (except the former, which to me is a bible of tamil movie), but an entertainer and commercial winner. US theater collection is $500K in the first 1 week, which is the highest for any S.I movie.

the movie has a lot to observe, specially the effort put in, the planning, incredible VFX, linking of 10 (actually 9) characters, a sample of what we are going to see in marudhanayagam in the first 15 minutes.

i saw public interviews and one old person (70's or even 80s) mentioned that he has seen it twice. he mentioned that in the history of tamil cinema, only 2 movies came (navarathiri and now dasa) and he has seen both and he has to wait another 40+ years to see such movie again.

except critics, general public liked this movie, which wasn't the case in any kamal's movie.

btw, this is my last week in US. will be moving on saturday to india. will call you when I am there.

I am also trying to get invitation for Marmayogi launch in Grand Hyatt on July 13th. Lets see......

I saw this a while ago but didn't bother to post. Its a big epic mess. Horrible special effects and make-up, and the 10 characters Kamal plays are nothing more than cogs in the plot. Only Balram Naidu was entertaining. Read all the meaning you want into the film, but the "complexity" of the film is quite overstated IMO. The film is essentially Kamal building a Mount Rushmore to himself with ten Kamal heads :D

And I want to see Kamal acting, not Kamal wearing a series of creepily inexpressive rubber masks

What you and I and dvdisoil wanted to see didnt get the fame or money to Kamal (Anbe Sivam, Hey Ram, MahaNadhi, Guna, Virumandi). Unfortunately Kamal has to give these "creepily inexpressive rubber masks" once in a while to make money to "reinvest" in what he likes to do.

Hopefully marmayogi is something we all will cherish and as usual will be turned down by box office.

Vettayadu Vilayadu was big hit, and Kamal did not use a lot of make-up there. It depends on the film he does.

However, in this era where the film media makes a big deal about Surya or Vishal or whoever getting six-pack abs, at least Kamal is experimenting on an acting level.

VV is not a block buster, but a hit. Yes, he didnt use even make up and thats the make up he used for this one :)

BTW I watch KB's interview last week and Kamal made a surprise call during the interview. KB couldnt recognize his voice and mentioned that he saw 10A 3 times and almost forgot whats Kamal's original voice. KB is probably one of the best director in India and he watching 10A 3 times tells us something :) [wont give up man]

Zoran009, Thanks. I have moved and somewhat (!) settled down. Going to take a break before I do any new ventures.
