No it doesn’t mean they’re out of business, actually they seem to very much in business looking from their website. Seems their main business has shifted from a mastering company to an online retailer with the authoring being a side business now. There could be more to it than you see but I thought you might know since you carry SD banter (not to mention the banner)? Just out of curiosity have they released anything recently on DVD? Last few I remember was Zubeidaa for YRF and Abhinetri on their own label and those were in 2002.

Have they got another website apart from http://www.superdvd.com? The latest releases on that site are Fanaa and Golmaal - and all the DVDs on there are $25

Which Indian DVDs have Super Digital mastered recently?

yes, it means they are no longer in the business of mastering DVD's or movies--which is the topic at hand. They could still be in "business" selling Bata chappals, but that is irrelevant to the topic :p

Do you know why Video Sound died?

They died becase they broke up with Super Digital and they joined MD who hadn't a clue on making dvds

Because they are incompetent?

They will use cheap media (disc wise) because they are based in India, I hope some company does it who are based in USA / UK

do you know this from experience? or a wild guess?

the disc media doesn't have anything to do with the disc content! afaik, iDream DVD's (done at Prasad Labs) use the same media as Columbia Tristar.

I don't care who does it, as long as its satisfactory quality according to our (zulmi) standards.

I ment the cheap media will skip / freeze like most Video Sound/ Spark DVD's

my experience is Dil Chata Hai (Spark) Froze half way
Phool Aur Kaante (Spark) Froze half way

So the Dil Chahta Hai and Phool Aur Kaante DVDs were done in India, not in the UK or US? Because going by your previous post, if they were done by companies in the UK or US they wouldn't have used 'cheap media' and wouldn't have frozen?

The quality of the Abhinetri DVD was superb! One of the best classic movie DVDs I have.

Unfortunatly SD used cheapo media and a lot of discs were trash and stopped working after a while. I had to buy this movie 3 times before I found one that worked (touch wood it's still working.) This was reported on Zulm a while baxk.

Aside from a couple of good releases most of what they released was not really that good quality wise ... hit and miss I would say. While Zubeida was okay qualitywise they made really dumb authoring mistakes like putting the layer change in the middle of a song. I wouldn't feel any pride in displaying their company logo as my sig!

In my view Super Digital were the 2nd best after BEI DEI they were the first company to produce DVD's Yes Boss 1998 and were the first to make a DVD in 5.1 Koyla

If them then who do we go for:

Apollo VHS rips
DEI/BEI so no more :( Were the best)
Eros are trash
Spark are trash and they are no more
Super Digital (Are the 2nd best)
Video Sound are trash and they are no more

Who in your view is the best out there for the bluray job I think you will be happy with the cr*p job eros do
had eros used super digial more often I think they did a few times there dvds would not have been as bad as they are today

You say that super digital used chepo media then I could say so did BEI/ WEG I dont think super digital did I say this because I have Reshma DVD by Apollo/Super digital the disc looks dark gold media I have also seen DVD's that are light gold

At one point you guys bashed DEI about some picture problem

I would opt for a speciality BD author and manufacturer.

If jat1 ever extends his piracy fixation to bollywood ("curry") blu rays, I will start calling him
Pirate Of The Curry B R ;-)
and would look forward to him dropping the superdigital logo from his signature and replacing it with a pic of Johnny Depp from the "said" movie
