I very much liked Chak De India (I guess I never got around to posting a review), but I don't think it has any place at the Academy Awards. "Sports movies" don't get Oscars, especially not when they're competing in the "Best Foreign Film" category.

BTW, that song that they showed in theatrical trailers " Hockey Doongee Ik Rakh Ke" was not in the film. There may have been a line or so, but not the one where the girls are showing a Hockey stick and saying "Hockey Doongee Ik Rakh Ke".

Film Length: 4135 meters (censor cert); 137 - 138 min. (Shouldn't it be 150 min @ 90 ft per min ??)
End credits had both DD & DTS logos.

"Hockey Doongee Ik Rakh Ke" song is in Extras DVD :D along with tons of other extras.

Theatre where I saw C D I, run time was 137-138 min. DVD cover states main feature run time to be 152 min, counter shows 150 min. :D

Extras DVD has tons of deleted scenes. That's the way it should be. Fast paced for theatrical showing and longer version for home video, where you can pause, scan, omit, research at your will. So, longer the version, the better. :D :D

Finally saw this movie. Movie by itself was miles apart from ordinary desi movies.

Camera in many places where shacking. Even when characters are not playing!
BGM - Was horrible. Wonder why they need to settle down for anything less for such a good piece of work.
Dialogues were decent and impressive in many places.
SRK should also learn few more acting skills other than raising eye brow.

A serious movie, all through out, and really not targeted for international audience or for awards, so it was a well made "domestic" movie. Hats off to SRK for "Playing" the coach.

After all hype! I watched it too!

Theme is Novel! Film, too off the track! Sarook, ok, but nothing spectacular yet restrained! New girls..all good!

I would compare this to Swades for content purposes and for WOMEN RIGHTS/RESPECT of course it is NOVEL!

It is DOCUDRAMA! If I compare it with BILB , then BILB was more entertaining , lively and preferable for re watch imho!

Nevertheless for novelty and theme! it gets close to swades that was plagued with unnecessary length, songs!

7/10

Hmmmmmmmmm. I really thought we finally made an inspiring movie but 4 months after watching Chak De India, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO disappointed. This is another COPY (not inspiration). Lot of situations in Chak De is "AS IS" in Miracle.

If this has been discussed here before, pardon my ignorance!

I haven't seen Miracle, but judging by that synopsis it doesn't sound any similar to CDI than other sports-themed films like The Mighty Ducks etc.

I noticed that in the special features for CDI the Indian Women's hockey team were interviewed. In their interview they stated that the film was based on actual events that happened to them a few years ago. So while most sports based films are quite similar in nature to one another - in this case the film seems to be inspired by actual events.

CDI is based on true event, just like Miracle. May be just coincidence, story may be same, but the screenplay should not be the same. If you see miracle, you will understand.

Only difference is they beat the mighty USSR in semifinals which was the highlight of the movie, but in CDI its the finals.
