With the new Rambo film releasing today/ tomorrow, theatres seem to be starting with Rambo marathon, all in one package price ($ 20 perhaps ??), this evening ending with new Rambo film past midnight. I don't see Rambo 1, 2, 3 listed for screenings during the week. So perhaps, today is the only chance to see old Rambo films in theatre.
Rambo 1, 2, 3 were released between 1982 and 1988 when Dolby Digital wasn't available. It'll be interesting to see if the Rambo marathon incorporates better audio mix/ surround. Being action films, with lots of blasts, Dolby Digital type surround activity, if incorporated, sure will add to movie experience.
imdb listings show Rambo 1 (1982) with Dolby sound mix, Rambo 2 with Dolby SR for 35 mm and 6 ch for 70 mm and Rambo 3 with Dolby SR. Let's see if they, at least, show Rambo 2 with Dolby Digital surround from 70mm print or show 70mm print ??
------------------ Recall, Star Wars series, when re-released, had much better sound as new technology was available. But, that was a major re-release. Not sure in the case of Rambo films??
------------------- BTW, this spelling has been bugging me for some time. I see "Theaters"/ "Theatres" spelled as "Theatres" everywhere (and not as Theaters anywhere) I look, but auto spell-check always complain with "Theatres" and not with "Theaters". Is it English/ American spelling issue ?? Which one is which ?? Thanks.
