I am not sure which of the moderators is responsible for merging my 'Taare Zameen Par: Not a 'classic'? But a definite "MUST SEE" thread with the '****** TAARE ZAMEEN PAR ******' thread, but I certainly don't appreciate it. Specially, considering that no reason or even any intimation of the same was given to me. I had started the new thread for a very specific reason. In fact, I had stated my reason for starting a new thread at the very begining of my post.

I just got back from watching 'Taare Zameen Par' and I felt that this film needs to have a new thread for it's post release discussions, of which I am sure there shall be lots.

The main reason for starting the seperate new thread, was to have this thread cater to the members own reviews, views, opinions and comments about the film, seperated from reviews published by professional (not sure if the word 'professional' is actually appropriate) reviewers and by other sites. Personally, I am far more interested in the opinions and views of my fellow Zulmis regarding a movie, than I am of what the likes of Taran Adarsh might have to say. In any case, the other thread is always there for those who may be interested in the professional reviews.

Thus it would be appreciated if my thread was restored. Also, I would like to suggest/request that we follow this principle in future. By the way if I am not mistaken we have done this in the past also, although I can't remember the name of the movie that it was done for. Also, it is common courtesy that if someone's thread/post is edited, moved, removed or merged, that the member be intimated regarding the same. Ofcourse, providing a reason for the same would also be the courteous and professional thing to do.

PS: I hope all concerned, will take this post in the spirit that it has been written in and not take anything personally. Thanks.

Sorry Sanjay, it was I Hitler the 3rd who merged your thread, didn't mean to cause any hurt, broken hearts or any other emotional ill felling - send me your address and I'll send some flowers over to make it up it

I've always had the opinion that its best keeping all reviews under one thread - to me there's no difference between a review written by a professional or anyone else - they are equal opinions in my eyes. As a matter of note I think most people will post their opinion/review/comments on a film on the first thread they see or the first thread they come across on the search - I don't think anyone will take the time-out too see which have been written by 'professional'/others or members here. You'll find they are two threads on here already on TZP - the'll definitely be a another thread when the DVD appears and people will continue to post their comments on all three.

But hey, if it makes you happy and want to try this other route, your thread has been restored. BTW nothing taken personally :D

I actually feel a little embarassed now for raking such a fuss about this. By the way, I must have missed some history lessons. Hitler the 3rd? :?
Your understanding is much appreciated.

A)
I am with Ali on this one :-)
I myself try to search out old threads to post anything new on a topic and then request the author to revise the topic name if so required...
There are two primary streams at zulm -- DVDs and Movies -- all reviews of the movie are best discussed under one single thread in the Movies forum; and all dvd discussions are also best done under one single thread in the DVDs forum. Anything over and above the two can definitely be taken up in new threads.

VERY TRUE!!!

B)
Also, yes, I agree with Sanjay that a small note be made before a thread is merged into another or pruned or deleted :-)

C)
BTW, Sanjay, you've meant the other TZP thread to be a place where zulmi's own thoughts can be written, but you've ended up posting Anurag Kashyap's thoughts from another site ;-)

:) I knew someone would point this out. But as feeble an excuse that it might seem like to some, I do have my reasons for doing so. The reasons being:
1) The link I posted to, is not really a review, even Anurag clearly states that in his blog.
2) I don't consider Anurag Kashyap to be a professional reviewer.
3) I just wanted to give more coverage to Anurag's blog.
4) This one might seem like stretching it a bit. But the respect I, and I am sure a lot of other Zulmi's, have for Anurag as a film maker, puts him in the honorary Zulmi category. :)

Although, it seems that Ali might have been right about how people here seem to simply post in the first thread, even if only remotely linked to the post itself. So far not a single post related views by a fellow Zulmi have been posted in the the thread I started for the purpose. Taare Zameen Par: Not a 'classic'? But a definite "MUST SEE"

Any idea if Anurag has/ had been a secret zulmi or has seen zulm comments ??

Well, it's always slow going when us foreign zulmies get to see the films. Firstly, not all cities get theatrical releases of Hindi films. TZP is not showing in Ottawa for example. (Even Welcome is at a 'B' class theater). And then, it's X-mas holiday time when many of us zulmies are on holidays and/ or are busy with other things. It might very well take a few weeks before many of us zulmies get to see TZP and that too perhaps only on a DVD. And only then you can see their comments.

I think Sanjay was talking about no comments from zulmis being added to the TZP thread here viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9924

BTW, Zulmis have already added their own thoughts on TZP on the other TZP thread here viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9789 -- Scroll down to comments from ajy1, dvdisoil, ali_ikram. It's sad that Sanjay's own thougths, very well articulated, are in a separate thread and this "two thread" thing will mean some zulmis may not be able to read all of other zulmis' thoughts on TZP...

Threads, once born, take a life of their own -- it's only the mods and admins who can edit them / merge them / copy them to remove anomalies.
