Pankaj Kapoor -- DHARM DVD by Times Music [DVD shots]

Dharm is out on dvd @Rs.250/- packed in a slip case.

This is Times Music's first ever dvd I think -- hope they've done justice to the movie!

I am always afraid of taking screenshots from my laptop
-- so you'll have to wait until this weekend for shots from the feature film on the dvd. My laptop has all sorts of problems like chroma delay, flat colours, etc. -- so lemme take shots on my home PC this weekend.

Till then, here are screenshots of the menu and extras (laptop and thus may be far from perfect) -- enjoy :-)

=======================

The dvd does appear to be progressive.
It is NTSC widescreen 1.78:1 -- what was the theatrical AR?
Comes in a keep case inside a cardboard slip case.
Released by Times Music.
Sound is Hindi 5.1 -- but have to check how good is the separation on 5.1 setup
Optional English subtitles
Film part runs 1:44:24 on the dvd

Thanks for taking the effort, NewDeep! Looking forward to the actual screen shots. ;) This seems to be a good movie.

The DVD quality is surprisingly quite good, specially the audio. The movie itself is a must watch for all. It is definately better than Eklavya and should have been chosen as Inia's entry to the Oscar's.

VIDEO It is NTSC widescreen 1.78:1
-- what was the theatrical AR?
-- The dvd does appear to be progressive.

CASE Comes in a keep case inside a cardboard slip case.

DISTRIBUTOR IN INDIA Released by Times Music. If Adlabs do the dvd abroad, they'd be wise to take this same transfer which is very good!

AUDIO
Sound is Hindi Dolby Digital 5.1 during the feature
-- the 5.1 separation is good!
-- the sound is full and distortion-free -- it is just right -- the speech channel does not require boosting up
Sound is Hindi 1.0 in extras (including music videos) -- this is one of the best 1.0 sound I've ever come across -- crystal-clear hi-fi strong 1.0 and miles ahead of the Dolby 2.0 Surround used by so many companies on so many DVDs. It is so good, it "sounds" like 5.1 ;-)

SUBTITLES Optional English subtitles

RUNTIME Film part runs 1:44:24 on the dvd

SCREENSHOTS FROM PC -- finally ;-)

I wholeheartedly agree with anyone who says DHARM is OSCAR MATERIAL and deserved to go from India.

Close-up of the baby is like a snap taken from a 7.0 Megapixel digital camera ;-)

I wholeheartedly agree with anyone who says DHARM is OSCAR MATERIAL and deserved to go from India.

Rented this DVD Yesterday. Time version must be the official release version in US/ Canada too, as the store I rented from rents originals.

I agree with all the comments above. Excellent film, Excellent DVD.
Yes, it's Progressive.
High bit rate mostly and does vary as per needs. I noticed 4.8 mbps, averaging @ 7 mbps and as high as 8.5 mbps.
Among the best Indian DVDs for sure and may be among Hollywood DVDs too.

--------------
As the main film is under 105 min, despite high bit rate total DVD size is 5.2 GB.

these are SS from M/CCE 4.37 GB DVD 5, re authored.

Genre............: Drama / Religion
Distributor......: WSG Pictures Productions( not TIMES)

author claims de-interlaced( non prog)

but result looks a crisp prog PQ that reminds me of PAL TERRORIST DVD, for some reason!

BTW, VANRAJ BHATIA's MUSIC SOUNDTRACK WAS EXCELLENT TOO! so much in harmony with film! Film has such an authentic look to it!

OK, so the Times DVD was great, but the media (disc) wasn't.

We took out the DVD to play it again recently. When the DVD stopped playing after layer change, I suspected that it would be either Jet Speed or FCML (Futuristic Concepts Media Ltd) who would have done the DVD manufacturing (replication).

True! It was FCML.

Every single of my Futuristic-replicated DVDs has gone bad after layer change!!

Hope to find a SonyDADC-replicated replacement...
