Sheesh...a bore-fest!
I am not stupified as to why Maya left Rishi for Dev, because, every perfect guy cannot be your true love! I am stupified as to why she married him in the first place - from the very first scene, Rani maintained an expression of boredom; she looked more like a lamb taken to slaughter than a bride about to embark on a journey of happiness and committment...I guess she was ready to cheat on Rishi the very first day! hehehe.......worsse, she doesn't pay heed to the 'angel's warnings in the form of SRK....why did she get married?
Plus, I never felt any passion between Maya and Dev either...they seemed like two individuals who were in discord with their spouses more than they were in accord with each other! lolzz...what if Maya was a hot shot entrepreneur? Would the Male Chauvinist Pig Dev fall in love with her then? I think not! lolzz He could not adjust to the fact that his wife was more illustrious, and, hence, gravitated to a woman who was just as whiny and unfulfilled....!
Anyways, the movie was certainly a notch above karan's pathetic KKHH....one of the main reasons KANK let me down was because SRK, and esp Rani, hardly show any zeal...they never raise above the scripts to deliver an enthusiastic performance....Rani either cries or screams...SRK is brilliant when he has to emote through his eyes (particularly noteworthy was the flower-crossing scene..heh..his happiness at seeing Maya, followed by his shock at noticing his wife beside her was portrayed very well!), but otherwise he is below par....he hams when he has to speak!
Extreme melodrama never suited Rani - I would love to see her in a light romance like Saathiya again! This is a role tailormade for someone like Kajol who knows how to make tears seem beautiful! Rani looks haggard!
I saw more chemistry between SRK and Rani in her cameo in K3G than in the entire KANK - clearly, this one required a legendary couple like SRK and Kajol! In fact, Rani looks better with Abhi! heeh
Preity is ok in a couple of scenes, but I don't understand that oohs-aahs about her either....the slap was executed fine, but she hardly had any scope!
AB was irritating...! Kiron looked nice and was spontaneous (for once, not OTT!)
BUt, the scene-stealer, the charmer was Abhishek....he simply elevates the movie to a watchable status...be it his light flirtatiousness or his emotional intensity, he gets every expression right, and pitches in a controlled performance...truly, he steals the show every time he is on screen!
Songs and choreography are horrible...surprisingly, considering Karan's forte is good music!
That said, some scenes do stand out: the dinner scene, the road scene with the two girls, Abhishek's outburst towards the end, Abhishek's dialogues when he meets with Rani after a while
Overall, 5/10..if Karan wanted to make a controvesial film, he has succeeded...if he wanted to make a good film, he hasn't passed the muster! watch it for AbhisheK!
