BB I knew was a remake of many South indian movies, or rather 1 Malayalam movie which was remade into Kannada, Tamil, Telugu etc. It starts off promisingly and then peters into the absolute bizarre. in fact none of the writing in the phase where it should have really stuck well to its research does. Just throwing in some psychiatry words does not make a film authentic. In the end they relied too much on mumbo-jumbo and that is a shame. Balan and Akki make an impact with meaty roles. Shiney is an idiot to have signed on this movie and what the heck is wrong with Priyadarshan wasting talent of the calibre of Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav by making buffoons out of them. Tut, tut.
Unfortunately, I caught it too, because my kids are in Halloween spirit lol and are possessed.
Any how! First thing first, even film with DD 5.1 surround with occasional full surround effect had occasional low level, distractive sound glitches that were short luckily.
I had seen chandramukhi, unfortunately just a few days before, so darn story was all know,
Overall, this 10th grade remake, had been 10th grade downgrade was stupid same as chandramukhi but a bit low CHEESY imho.
Badly made film, that does not go any where! not comedy, nor scary, nor mystic!while if any of those would have served film better.
Vidya was ok, but she had shobhna and jyothika to copy, but still did well imho.
Akshay was ok, but his role was too glorified, but less so, compared to Rajni in Chandramukhi, that was over the board.
I did like climax of chandramukhi due to Rajni better though!
Chandramukhi had 8-9 stupid songs, while BB, orig CD had remakes of all, only a few were added , for SURE by force, and seemed still too excessive!, tempo of songs was way out of place to narration, ambiance!
Major let down was LACKLUSTER background music, courtesy bad director, composer, as a film, like this for keeping its mood needs a strong background music!
Characters were half backed trying to keep lifting alive! Overall, milieu had been kept, low key, and bit lackluster by priya, but still does not help much.
I'll rate it 5/10, barely time pass!( may be watching chandramukhi was a set back for me?)
I'll recommend, if you want to watch, a good film, that still impresses you with its, songs, story, acting and mystical flavor, then for older dudes: RENT MADHUMATI instead!
For kids, HAUNTED MANSION will serve better with EXCELLENT SFX>
FOR compulsive CINEMA-GOERS..I do not have any other advise as I do not recommend any of these two, and wont waste myself watching LCMA!
For some clean, comic fun..watch DHAMAAL instead!
BTW! few RAJHASTHAN scenes were very well captured indeed!
