Another thing -- if at all matting is forced to create a widescreen picture (of a movie originally screened in 4:3) -- then isn't it possible that they offer the unmatted on dvd? Or does the team work only on the matted frames, thereby never having a 4:3 material in colour?

From the deleted scenes it looks like they colourised the 4:3 image and then matted it. You can clearly see that these scenes would have looked hopeles if they had been matted.

1-disc version for Indian audiences -- http://shemaroo.com/online/product.asp? ... 739&sent=1 -- will this be a different cut? Is this really the same price as the 2-disc version? Is it really 1-disc?

Music Yogi comes to the rescue!!

Thanks Music Yogi...

Here's what Aadarsh from Music Yogi says:

======================
I managed to open the boxes which arrived now. I checked the details on the DVD sleeve, and I have updated the information on the site.

...it is indeed a 2-Disc edition (and apparently an autographed edition too - but it is not clear as to who autographed the DVD).

And, the runtime is 163 mins for the Disc 1 & 38 mins for Disc 2.

Thanks for the update -- BTW, it's only the topic name that says "Colour Version and B&W Original" so that we can discuss both versions together in the same topic -- not the dvd -- though what you are saying would be a collector's dream come true -- B&W and Colourized in one box -- wow -- perhaps Shemaroo may do that some day.

I didn't see any autographs on the box that I looked at. Although the cover was nice and packaging was interesting!

I'll check it out next time I go to my friend's house. I did see some scenes (mainly the songs and extra features) at my friend's house and it didn't look all that bad. However - I was maily looking at the colours and the backgrouns to see how well they were done. The DVD stinks anyway because of the fact that they have made a mistake in processing it (as far as I can tell). Stating it is anamorphic when it isn't.

Anyway - thanks for confirming - will check it out again.

Shemaroo have done it before too -- they labeled the 4:3 Mughal E Azam as 2.35 anamorphic ;-)
