Yep it's cropped from the original which is about ~2.35 - this screen shots if taken from the extras;

Compared to the extras shot, the one from the dvd is not only slightly cropped from the left and right, it is also offering slightly more image on top and bottom -- the question I am always asking -- are shemaroo dvds opening matte?

shemaroo should be bombed the way they had been tarnishing their decent products!

Deep, can you please write or speak with them, they lost to moesbaer for apne by cropping same ways! and now other wise reasonable looking product they screwed it up :(

I have written to them so many times -- will try again -- they simply don't listen

They have great equipment but they don't know how to use it.

The only Indian companies that appear to listen are Excel Home Videos (really good "listeners") and UTV...

Does UTV listen? What are they doing to their dvds? What happened to BLUE UMBRELLA

I have communicated with utv only once and I got a call the next morning... it was about the botched up audio in the last few minutes on the UTV Namesake DVD. They have actually replaced all defective copies so that's a good sign!

Would Eros do that on Cheeni Kum... I don't think so.

Let's start writing to UTV on quality of transfers such as that on BU, and let's see whether they welcome such feedback or not.

Shemaroo are deaf, like Eros though :-( will take them to consumer court someday when I am rich over cheating customers by mentioning 2.35 AR on the dvd cases while offering 2.1 or 2.2 only -- will any of you join me 8) :)

YRF -- did lend an ear a couple of times -- I have the very first (and only?) e-voucher issued by YRF DVDs with a 6-month expiry date. This incident happened a couple of years ago when the YRF DVDs of Dastaan and Dhund "froze" -- these were ordered to be delivered in the U.S. where a colleague was visiting. As such YRF could not replace these non-Indian-distributed DVDs to an address in India -- and they requested me choose any 2 dvds from their Indian-distributed-DVDs as replacements. When I told them I already had all of them, they issued a 6-month e-voucher for any two of the forthcoming dvd releases -- which is how I got Fanaa and KANK in my collection.

I also constantly barraged them with request for dts, especially during Dhoom 2 pre-release... they finally did come out with dts in JBJ. Hopefully they'll continue with dts now on.

All's not lost perhaps :-)

Wow! what a 360 degree turn by Indra Kumar from Mast the vulgarity to Dhamal the nobility!

to my surprise Dhamal is a very decent watch comedy 8) I l;iked it! so did my family!

good plot(might be lifted) no sub stupid plots, good witty one liners and comic performances with Javed Jaffery acing!

No too many stupid songs(minus for some), no stupid dumb blond babes(minus again for some).

Good effort by Indra kumar! Sanju was not bad either..it is better than any priya, chriya's garam, thanda masala imho.

Excellent family watch!

Please do rent for your family, at least!

Btw audio on dvd was extremely good for this genre! Whole heartedly recommended!

I've got to agree with you Zoran bhai (I know, it doesn't happen often!!!) - I saw this in the cinema shortly after there was a discussion on Zulm about how 'family' films weren't suitable for the family any more, and I remember thinking how 'clean' this film was. It's no masterpiece, but I found it very funny, well worth a watch.
