Does anyone know how many versions of Mortal Kombat DVD are out there? I only see one type at various e-tailers. Unfortunately, the video is letterboxed wide (4:3). Are there any anamorphic wide editions? NTSC or PAL?

This site lists the various versions. A few are anamorphic.

OVERALL: Draw

Between the R2 French and Dutch release for the inclusion of an anamorphic transfer, 'Making Of' featurette and uncut status.
The R2 UK (EIV) and German release also include the anamorphic transfers and uncut status, however miss out on the featurette. The choice is yours, whatever your decision avoid the Italian version as it has a cropped transfer and a dubbed DTS track.

Just released May 22nd:
  • Mortal Kombat / Mortal Kombat: Annhiliation (Double Feature) (New Line)
Most probably the same discs included at a cheaper price :?

English DVD Companies have recently been releasing combo features of their films. May combos have come out and this is just one them.

Some other combos:
  • Dantes Peak / Daylight
  • Beverly Hills Cop (three)
  • Dakota / In Old California
  • Out of Time / The Mighty Quinn
  • Porkys / Porkys 2

Many more just cant remember which ones right now ..

Some of these double/triple features are fullscreen only, so be careful.

The ones I have seen in stores to date are widescreen or widescreen and flip side fullscreen. I havent bought any of them since I am getting rid of my collection to make room for HD :D 8) :P

yeah, I know what you mean U/L. I really wanna watch this movie again, and I don't know how long an HD release would take.

I was at Circuit City yesterday and saw a DVD of Mortal Kombat that said it was enhanced for 16:9 displays. I believe it is on sale for $4.99. Maybe New Line quietly re-released it with a 16:9 transfer.
