Very cool programming and all films with English subtitles.

How is the theater itself? Big screens, comfy seats, projection, sound?

I'm thinking of zipping by this weekend. SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA looks very exciting. CHEENI KUM as well...

When's the best time to go? Ie: are there heavy sell-outs on weekend evenings or afternoons?

Thanks!

I have boycotted this very theater! NEVER AGAIN!!

read more about my experience here:

I settle for whatever plays in the valley now...though I hardly go, cause most of these movies are crappy. generally go as a social event.

ps-if you still end up going, don't eat their snacks

Although I have never been to the theater myself, a very close friend of mine has very recently (couple of months) joined as a manager at the Artesia Naz 8.

Define "couple of months". If this is inclusive of September, I might be burning an effigy of your "close friend" in front of the theater! :P

The last time I checked the dictionary, a 'couple' means, 'two of something' or 'double'. Anyhow, he joined either in late March or early April of this yr.

Yeah, but many people misuse the term "couple". Just checking.

One of my profs posted there are a "dozen service centers in USA", and several slides later, he posted there are "three service centers".....by a "dozen", he meant three  I don't know if I should laugh or shoot myself

Yuvan, it sounds like you had a very bad experience, based on your report.

I'm delighted to say that I did not. I went down there with a friend and had a fantastic time. The theaters were bigger than I expected (I counted about 400 seats) as was the screen. I was expecting a postage stamp sized mall-type theater (like the Westside Pavilion cinemas, which are soon to be usurped), and was delighted with it.

The projection and sound quality were excellent. SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA is a very loud film, and the surround sound channels were highly active. I didn't have the Samosas, but my friend liked them and said they were spicy.

The projectionist was attentive, as the lights slowly started to fade up in the last seconds before the INTERVAL card. I wasn't expecting one, since the movie is only 125 mins, but it was a nice relief from the tense film. There are no trailers before the film, but are placed at the end of the interval, right before the second part. With a 10 min interval, the trailer placement allows the returning audience extra time to grab snacks or hit the bathroom without missing any of the actual feature. Nice idea.

The theater is heavily decorated with great lobby cards, posters and standees from the current and upcoming films, which I appreciated.

My only quibbles were the predominance of large disclaimer signs in the lobby and all in front of the boxoffice. I know that outside food is a movie theater no-no, as is jumping from theater to theater without paying, but the # and size of the signs is a tad overkill.

And the soundproofing between theaters could be a little better. I noticed one instance where I could hear a little bit of the film next door, during a quiet scene in SHOOTOUT. I imagine if I was seeing CHEENI KUM next door, though, the sheer loudness and gun battle filled soundtrack of SHOOTOUT would bleed through a bit excessively.

All in all, a positive experience, and I'll definitely be going back again. It's 25 miles for me, which isn't ideal, but I could see going once or twice a month especially to catch a film I want to see.

With some nice DVD shops a couple miles down the street and a few restaurants, it makes for a fun day trip.

Perhaps Sanjay's friend cleared things up!
