Abid's a retard --

.
Nishabd is
not "inspired by"
American Beauty, and reading the several recent claims that it is, shows, in my opinion, the near-unassailable drive that some people have to pin any Indian film on
something Hollywood-made, and to just generally trash Indian cinema. Pre-release: "it
must be a rip-off of
Lolita." Shortly post-release: "Well, ...
American Beauty? Yeah, sure:
American Beauty. Wait, no? OK... it's 'almost' like
American Beauty, and would have been better if... if it
had ripped off it, instead." As for "Indianizing" it, suck my dick.
Nishabd opted to tell a story rather than to follow the conventions that some might have expected it to. Is this appreciated? Hell no. If it had followed conventions, the cries would have been, "why dumb it down? Why not just say what you want to say?" It's fine to not like a movie, but the reasons, this time around, are getting preposterous. Hell, most people who
liked the movie don't seem to have the balls to say so without adding, "it's not for the masses."
American Beauty was about a man's "mid-life crisis"; and... thus,
Nishabd should
also have been? Bra-fucking-vo.
The "question" is not a "question," but the presentation of a scenario. Also, we don't know that Vijay is "happily married," just that he's "married, and not miserable."
So, maybe you (Abid) can go to hell.
By the way, I believe that
Nishabd finished shooting prior to the release of
Venus. By the way, as well, the former did
not echo the latter.
*This has been a rant. Thanks.
